How about the 25 billion or so in acquisition costs, capex and strikes?

I'm still not believing outsourcing is all that great a deal for Delta. No discredit to you. I never liked Leo or Fred.

I didn't buy it for a minute, I was just trying to relate how "they" think about RJ's, and the excuses they will throw at us.

The RJ whipsawing philosophy gives them negotiating leverage against we Mainline guys too, just look how quickly we caved on low pay raises (4833), profit sharing give backs, and more 76 seat RJ scope in C2012! All Richard had to do was threaten to "Re-engine" the 50 seaters.

BTW, the person(s) that negotiated the stipulation about GS#2 not being handed out until everyone had a shot at GS#1 need(s) to have a statue erected in their honor. That was a huge improvement.

Apparently this has happened to several folks and we were conjecturing they might have to meet a board or something. Turns out to be easier.

The "person" doesn't meet a board (if that's what you meant) but the application and day one interview results meet a periodic board to determine hire/no hire. It's periodic meaning some wait a while when others hear back immediately; it's just timing WRT interview date and board meeting. I guess in the past, maybe pre '07, the eval had more finality to it and folks were given the "no thanks" without a review.

It was the most intense and aganizing three weeks between the time I recieved the snail-mailed letter and the CTT phone call from the hiring department. Analyzing every one of the 600 odd MMPI questions and every word uttered on the couch, or was it the chair? Guess I chose poorly....

Short call question,

In my "Bucket", I am the most senior and there are 4 people junior to me with no short calls or flight time for the month. I had a carry in trip worth a little credit. How did I get the short call for tomorrow? I thought it was inverse seniority within your bucket and days of availability?

Thanks

The short calls seem to be at the discretion of the schedulers. Their hands are not tied until you have your quota of short calls for the month. If you find out something different from scheduling, please post it.

I heard the story the other and then went and checked his blog, last entry was 2012. I flew with him just after he accepted job or knew he was going to and he was convinced we were going to liquidate. Told me I should get my app in while I could, sure glad I didn't.

Well, now almost everyone is on shortcall so it's a moot point, but I think the other folks "junior to me" in the same bucket are just starting their first day of reserve, while Im on day 2 of 8, so I think they can not be on short call until 1200. Haven't been on reserve in years, so I guess it's gonna be a treat!!!

I followed his blog for a long while. Then, there was a long gap. The last few posts sounded like he wasn't able to say much, as if he was carefully watching his words. My opinion only, but there seemed to be a loss of enthusiasm.

Now he's back as an FO. It would be interesting to get his take on things. Do you think he regrets his move? I know I was very carefully considering doing the same thing. But, it never got so bad that I was willing to pull the plug. I think I probably made the right decision.

Or, if we can't admit that, at LEAST admit that if we did attempt to do that, the current management team would be in major hot water over an already imploding decision with a million articles in every stock feed about how it was one of the biggest blunders of the modern age?

We don't have to admit, accuse or even allege that anyone was duped or any bluff was fallen for or could have been called or whatever. But please can we finally admit they weren't going to re-engine the world's largest 50 seat RJ fleet and finally put that rhetoric behind us?

Love it ^^^^^^^^^^:D

That's exactly the way it was planned and happening at Delta. DCI was going to shrink from 600+ to 450 airframes over the term of C2012. I don't know what's going to happen at UAL and AAL, but I suspect those management teams are salivating at the opportunity of using non-performance to break contracts.

I always wanted a sit and spin...I was just too old when they were invented. Now I just want no spin...
