uhm.. they basically said we WERE interested in a west coast 717 base, but now network has put 717 west flying on hold for almost a year, so no. "Several months ago, we saw an interest from Network Planning to fly the 717 on the west coast. The 717 west plan is now a “maybe” and has now been pushed off to the first quarter of 2015, at the earliest."

So if company mention means, "No west coast 717 base for you! Well, ok, maybe in the 'long term' we could might possibly someday just maybe have a west coast base--will that make you take more kool-aid?" then yes, they have mentioned it.

I guess I'm harder to impress with vague positive sounding could-be verbiage than sailing... but then again, I've moved backwards on every single positive sounding AE for years now, maybe he hasn't.

On the other hand, there WAS some very good analysis of NYC commuter vs. NYC manning risk... some moron actually suggested they stop overnighting us in NYC and paying for our hotels, and instead force more of us junior guys to commute to NYC and have to live in crash pads and pay for our own hotels. They told him he was a selfish jackazz. I might have paraphrased this portion differently than sailing would also ;)

Lastly, they rosily implied that the inference that they might possibly someday live up to their promised staffing and growth and actually filling promised positions in DTW717, DTW73n, SEA, LAX, could be considered by some to be correct. Someday. Not until after receipt and consideration of a future network plan not presently received. But soon.

Where did you see all these promises? They have never once mentioned a 717 base out west until this update.

“Is there going to be a LAX 717 base?”
Over the long-term, there is the possibility of a west coast 717 pilot base. However, we will need to see a buildup of 717 flying on the west coast first, and according to Network Planning, the 717 will not move out west until the first quarter of 2015, at the earliest.

Okay all you PBS gurus. I want to put in a bid for these trips but I only want one of them to be awarded. How do I do it? The trips are P025 on July 14 and P014/P016 on July 28.

Thanks for any help!

Denny

That's about as non-commital as it gets...

Good info on the July crew resources newsletter. First company mention of a west coast 717 base. Profit sharing set aside for second quarter will be 350 million.

That sounds suspiciously like the implication that hiring would take place in the fall of 12 if we passed C12.

History has shown that we were suckers for hanging our hats on that.

It's just a bunch of couched, feel-good double talk that doesn't mean a damn thing.

Use "Pairing Number Departing On" and make a list of the 3 rotations you are interested in. Then also select "Limit" and set the value to 1. Then click "Add" and you should be good to go.

Come on sailing, you gots to be able to discern between a big dose of bleak-goggle repartee and a serious request for analytic discussion...

BTW, the 'promises' were a separate topic from the 717 talk, thus the use of the "new idea or topic" grammatical device, Mr. Paragraph. Witness, there were supposed to be many more DTW73nB, but they didn't fill the spots on first posting and then never posted them again. Same deal for DTW717, spots have not been filled as advertised or guys who bid out of DTW717 weren't totally backfilled. And all the talk of us building up LAX and SEA over the last years haven't resulted in any increase in narrow body positions... unless "LAXBendover" is a position.

You see what I did there? Internet rule #69, any use of vaseline/bendover imagery or likening one's adversary to Hitler, automatically disqualify the message from serious debate and require only a small 'lol' response.

Newbie question
Line holder in Atl Live in DTW
A trip of mine got picked up via swap board and ended up with 15 days off in a row. How can I pick up flying out of DTW ahead of schedule or out of base white slip only way?

You won't be able to snag any out of base slips until the day before (at the earliest).

See the trip coverage sequence in the PWA sec 23 for >12 hours until report and <12 to report.

Also reference 23.P for white slip info. Says you can only pick up out of base same/next day.
