Yes, I believe the number is >48 hour break in training. Book it yourself on TravelNet under Company Business. As new hires we were told you can only use it to go home, not (for example) the beach. Not sure if that's a contractual thing...will look for the actual provision....
Thanks...I thought that was what it was but I haven't been to training in a long time...cheers... |

11.I.1: A pilot will receive positive space coach on-line transportation to travel between the training location and any Company station before and after training and during each duty free period of 48 hours or more, if sales are authorized at the time of his attempted booking. |

Yep.... that idea isn't going to happen any time soon.
And newK: Your suggestion for World Wars last night was excellent! I can't wait for the next episode. |

Found the contract language, says nothing about to/from home. It's between the training location & any company station.

Back on the banding issue, I see Alan Shore's point. Another weakness in my argument stems from the fact that while we, as a group, have done a lot to improve the airline's efficiency and profitability, we have yet to recoup as much value as we'd like from the organization (Translation: where's my boat, my Cessna, and my condo on the slopes?!?). If we were to unlock all this value for the company, I'm not particularly confident that said value would accrue to us. |

As for herk and the other new guys from the military, your arrival into the airline will require something of a sea change in your thought process. Your new way of thinking has to be non-managerial and realize you are a technician pilot, not a management trainee. In commercial aviation, know your contract so you can maximize your income...don't just agree with whatever your union says is best for you. If a contract change (proposal) doesn't meet the sniff test of either giving you more money or more time off (preferably both), it isn't good.

Where's this AE that SD is talking about?
|
From the weekly Flt Ops update, there will be another AE posted this week with openings for new hires. No captain positions this time.

Welcome to the world of blue collar labor. This isn't a "complete the mission at any cost" environment...far from it. Management will exploit that mentality; it's up to us to know the contract and fly the contract. |
