Roger. We have, however, firmly established that I shouldn't attempt math in public.
To the guys that want this to pass- where do you feel is the value in this agreement from the company's perspective? The company gets to fix scheduling headaches that have been up its craw since 117 implementation. |

Why would you shave again on a CDO? Are you a gorilla or something? :) You just shaved before the duty period begins.. the 5 o'clock shadow is the mark of the CDO titan upon returning to base in the morning!
"no hats on CDOs". |

If it were me, I'd be growing my 'Playoff Beard' for the entire 4-5 day trip! :D If someone asked me about it, I'd just tell them I was CDO and SDP'd! Twice! |
If this does pass, there will be a mad scramble to get on fleets that don't have SDPs..

However, the $40 million is a net number. The +114 pilots is net. The 5+15 ADG is big dollars. It affects many, many current rotations. It also affects manning. More pilots are going to be required to cover the schedule. It especially helps reserves. Getting reserve pay equal to regular pay is something we have been trying to get for a long time. That is offset by the SDPs. Even with the premium pay, those will save the company big dollars. And it will also save them pilots. There were compromises. The MEC is going to debate all of this tomorrow. It is far from certain that it will pass. Check, Thanks for the updates. The problem with "current rotations" is that by the time these rules go into effect the bid packages will be very, very different. Scoop |
The more I think about this the madder I get, and I'm not a burn the place down kind of guy. Split duty periods or CDOs are garbage, and the fact that our negotiating committee brought this to our MEC Chairman, who touted the agreement in his letter, is depressing. This company is making money unlike any time in its history. This TA, months in the crafting, has some very concessionary stuff in it. We are less than 12 months from openers on a new contract. All the bad stuff in this TA will be set as precedent for next year's negotiations. I'm no longer no, I'm hell no, and totally disgusted.

One important question about how ADG's might affect non SDP trips is whether it will be applied to each day, or the entire rotation. If it's day by day, the company could not afford to have us fly < 5:15 on the first and last days. Adios commutable trips.
So, since I have no language on the ADG's... Imagine a 3 day trip blocked at 4:15/6:15/4:15. Does it pay: 1) 5:15/6:15/5:15, i.e. 16:45 or 2) the greater of block or 5:15 * 3, i.e. 15:45 > 14:45, i.e. 15:45? |
CDO + SDP = STD!
You don't want to get one, but if you do, you probably won't be able to get rid of it! (I have a feeling we're going to need a lot more Gold Bond, and probably some Vaseline too!) |
