It looks like you will be busy, too. But, I would love to have that line. Lots of easy international trips. :D

Well I get denied pickups for exceeding the max pickup.

Sailing,

I think people would get off the "bash sailingfun train" if you would just admit that you don't really know how we compare to the other airlines when it comes to efficiency. Maybe you can say the jury is still out until the 2013 data has been compiled, or something.

Just a thought.

The data is out there. Year after year we are at the bottom. Not sure why 2013 should show a big change. 2013 numbers will be out soon. We will not have been carrying any surplus FO's for 13 which will help. The contract provisions that forced that on the company are another item for Alan's list.

New to me but maybe not others. Figured I would share.
KTLH has free coffee for crews at the coffee shop just inside security!

Efficiency? Efficiency is blowing off the retirement of the very people that put you in the big leagues. That's efficiency. Try that little trick with the IAW or Teamsters.

Do you admit that the airline industry today is completely different than the airline industry of 2012 and that it will be even more different in the coming years?

Lots of changes. Not sure the impact on where we will sit in total block hour costs. In the end that is the one number that defines overall cost. That's the number that combines pay and productivity. Pay raises at other airlines should help in that regard. It really would be nice if SW stepped up to the plate and tried to get some real improvements on their contract that became amendable 2 years ago in Aug.

The good news is that starting in NOV a 24 day line pays 126 hours minimum. PBS will not be able to build a line over 17 days even with a 84 hour ALV.

FYI, the number was pay hours for lineholders. Very different than block hours.
For 2012 = 87:00
For 2013 = 89:00

The issue for the Company in this particular discussion is how many block hours versus the pay hours. Does anyone have that number?

Via napkin math, the increase on the "pay hours" side comes from C2012 items:
  • Trng. up by :30/day (x5.7 day/yr avg) 2:51 hrs
  • Vac. up by :15/day (x25 days/yr avg) 6:15 hrs
  • QCQ up to 1:2 pay (x2:45 /yr avg) 3:00 hrs
These alone average roughly 1:01 minutes of pay per month increase with no change in block hours flown.

Questions:
Did ADG @ 4:30 really mean an average increase of 1:00 per month per pilot on average? What other pay/block enhancements were out there?
How much of an increase will ADG @ 5:15 have on average pay hours?

I believe we will see another increase in "average pay per month" from 2013 to 2014, but I think it will be due mostly to the IA/GS/RR that has gone on this year because the Company failed to begin the hiring process sooner (and a small part based on Nov. and Dec. having 5:15 ADG in effect). I also believe we will see an increase in the "average block time" per pilot go up for the same main reason of IA/GS/RR.

On the flip side, we will also see an increased difference in the ratio of Pay to block ratio because of the 2x pay of IA/GS/RR. I believe the Company will make an attempt to portray us as "inefficient" based on that metric.

The widening disparity in pay:block is squarely on their shoulders because of the lack of hiring sooner, AND the Company's choice on fleet diversity previously discussed.

Do not be fooled by the Company's attempt. Support your MEC.
