all in all it was interesting to hear his point of view on the ExIm . But I also did appreciate him putting certain blame where it belongs, calling a spade a spade, especially with respect to fair market competition and engine manufacturers/oem and their over inflation.
Well, fwiw, I did CQ once with an 88 CA who was 3 days from starting 777 FO training. The last thing he ever did on the 88 was have a full blown off the wall type ride by an old crotchety DGS ass. Yeah I said it. He absolutely was. Never seen anyone like him before or since and for the sake of the 88 pilots I hope he is long since gone... and he looked to be on the physical edge anyways.
As miserable as I was answering the max cracked window speed I really felt bad for that Captain, luckily he had studied pretty hard despite the fact it was the end of his time on the jet.

I wasn't aware DGS guys could give checkrides.

They are far and few between these days but there are still a few around. My last CQ with a DB was epic. He last flew the jet in 2001. I've been on it for almost 7 years. At one point, he started screaming at me. I wasn't even flying, just throwing switches and ****. I'll never see him again, hopefully.

Never had a problem with a DGS or FO training guy. Had 2 line Captain LCA pull stuff out of thin air with "this is how I do it, so it must be right" procedures that had to be agreed with, or thou shall not pass implications. Fortunately both times my Captains took up the issue, so I let them discuss among themselves ... As an FO my only opinion is "no, I don't need to see that again" and "yeah, I'm good with going home early."
Anybody having trouble with the CQ2 disk? I tried to start it up, and it gave me a completion code. Great right? Except that it doesn't show up on my time card. So I was starting to watch the disk as uncredited, to actually do the work, but I thought if I did that and the completion code is buggered up that I would wind up watching it again for credit. I will watch it once, but not twice. Any suggestions?
I've never had a bad experience with a DGS guy. Have run into 2 tools, one an FO inst that gave me a CQ oral that went way past what I got on my initial 727 CA checkout, and another aspiring management type that took offense when I told him there was nothing wrong with the walk around picture of the open cargo door. I suppose he does all his ext inspections after scheduled push.
