Don't you love flying with those guys!

Don't forget that the :30 postflight does not count for FARs as rest or duty so you can go to 13:30 before extending or 15:30 after extending. You are 2:04 away from extending and 4:04 away from being done involuntarily.

I hate FAR 117. I believe it was a huge step back in rest issues and causes more fatigue. It looked good on paper until you read about the 2 hour extension and not including postflight in duty period which essentially extends every table 2:30. There's a reason why no airlines had to increase manning when it came out.

So far I haven't had a captain yet refuse to extend. Once our contract language goes into effect, it will be a pretty rare circumstance for me to extend. 13:30 and 14:30 are long enough days IMHO.

It's not tied to fatigue call, so it can be for whatever reason each guy determines individually, right?

Why do you feel the need to tell someone what he should or shouldn't do?

You're flying with NERD this weekend huh?

I was referring to NERD's FO who is apparently "itching" for a reason to walk off. If in his professional opinion he should not extend (yes for any reason) then he should not agree to continue. That was not the impression that I got from NERD's post.

To blatantly look for a reason to disturb the operation isn't helping any of us. Since you like flying with guys like that, can I assume you're of the same mindset that it's okay to look for reasons ("itch") to "walk away."

^^^^This is a separate conversation from the acceptance of an extension. I'm talking about a guy that is looking to cause problems. If your personal policy is to never extend because you think our duty days are long enough (and therefore unsafe) then fine, but actively looking/itching for a reason to walk off a trip is a whole different animal. I'd like to think we're better than that.

Hey,

I asked the question the other day but didn't get the answer I was necessarily looking for...

When you switch jets is the pay during training at the old jet rate or new jet rate?

Thanks...

Remember who you were talking to, and that explains it all.

I don't know for sure, but I think it has to do with your conversion date. If you convert before training, I think you get the new rate... but don't hold me to that... it is an ASS/U/ME(ption)

It all depends on your conversion date, which is dependent upon the date your sim training is scheduled to finish. I would recommend reading about it in Section 11 B. and calling the ALPA office on Monday for specific answers to your situation.
