Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
You're flying with NERD this weekend huh?
I was referring to NERD's FO who is apparently "itching" for a reason to walk off. If in his professional opinion he should not extend (yes for any reason) then he should not agree to continue. That was not the impression that I got from NERD's post.
To blatantly look for a reason to disturb the operation isn't helping any of us. Since you like flying with guys like that, can I assume you're of the same mindset that it's okay to look for reasons ("itch") to "walk away."
^^^^This is a separate conversation from the acceptance of an extension. I'm talking about a guy that is looking to cause problems. If your personal policy is to never extend because you think our duty days are long enough (and therefore unsafe) then fine, but actively looking/itching for a reason to walk off a trip is a whole different animal. I'd like to think we're better than that.

Remember who you were talking to, and that explains it all.
I don't know for sure, but I think it has to do with your conversion date. If you convert before training, I think you get the new rate... but don't hold me to that... it is an ASS/U/ME(ption)
It all depends on your conversion date, which is dependent upon the date your sim training is scheduled to finish. I would recommend reading about it in Section 11 B. and calling the ALPA office on Monday for specific answers to your situation.
Not true. The 13/15/9 shows a pilot's FDP limits, without and with a 2-hour extension. As an FDP never includes the 30-minute release, they are 1:34 away from their FDP limit.

I hate FAR 117. I believe it was a huge step back in rest issues and causes more fatigue. It looked good on paper until you read about the 2 hour extension and not including postflight in duty period which essentially extends every table 2:30. There's a reason why no airlines had to increase manning when it came out.
Hockeypilot,
Yes, the new FAR 117 is a cumbersome and poorly written document that missed the target completely. Unfortunately it was crafted with input from pilot types who have very little "actual" time on the line. I have very little respect for their years of flying a desk and then telling you they know what is best for you.
I can't speak to the domestic front, but the international arena has been bastardized completely. Especially the requirement for the landing pilot to have a two hour rest in the last half of the FDP. Sleep inertia is a dangerous thing that is often overlooked. In the past, our FOM was written to provide the flexibility in having the most alert pilot in the crew operating the controls. Now there is much less of a chance of being assured you have the best one at the controls. Where has common sense gone?
Fly safe,
OC
