My question is this. How do we get rid of the long term bureaucrats? (Btw we had a lot of powerful behind the scenes guys at Nwalpa too) Each LEC has a election every (3?) years, so there is a way for the line pilot to affect turnover. How do we, the line pilots help in the cleansing/turnover of the committee positions?
It may be time for alpha, buzz and the gang to take a break and go fly. Whether any of us agree with their positions, we all should thank them for their time and wish them good luck.

So if you're the PM and PF makes the mistake of not performing the stall recovery maneuver correctly the first time are you going to give them as many excuses for continuing down the road of faildom as you do that ditzy anchor? She screwed up. Sounds like you don't like any criticism of anything liberal/whacko and will defend it to the hilt.
To me the surprising part is that someone was actually watching that channel to see her botch it. Maybe that dude Maddow was in the studio and decided to post it to YouTube.

All you can say is, she screwed up. But, how? Because she asked the guy another question? Ok. But, I ask second and third questions all the time, just to make sure I really know where people are coming from. Everyone should do that. Especially, in an interview about an airplane that was shot down. Who would be prepared for a crackpot to make a comment about Howard Stern then? I wouldn't. To fault her for that is kind of dumb.
I'll even go out on a limb and say you know it's dumb. Why? Because you are attacking everything except your argument that she is a ditzy anchor.
First, it was the network. (MSNBC)
Next, it was the occupants of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
Then, it was me and what you call my so called defense of anything liberal/wacko.
Finally, it's "that dude" Rachael Maddow.
All funny, but none are responsive to my question -- indicative of someone who can't answer it.
You see, you are turning something that is non-political into something political. I'm not even discussing anything Liberal, or wacko. I merely asked what she did that was so wrong and "she" could have been Megyn Kelly, Gretta Van Susteren, Candy Crowley, or Mother Teresa.
If someone had attacked them for doing what Krystal Ball did, I would have asked the same question.

Indeed. I'm looking forward to seeing the Contract Comparison that's supposed to be out soon to see how the rest of our contract compares with theirs.
Actually, I never called anyone too stupid or lazy or weak. My point was that we had a full pilot vote. The only way you can call that non-democratic is if you believe that the pilots are too stupid or lazy or weak to make a rational decision. My assertion is that I have complete confidence in the pilots to decide their own fate. Once they vote, I accept the vote and move on. I don't try to make up conspiracy theories or excuses about why I lost the vote. In fact, my history shows that if I lose a vote I back the winner and provide any assistance possible. That is how you build a strong organization. If you try to rip it apart every time your personal desires are not satisfied then you are making us all weaker. It is not about you, it is about the group. Leadership is pitching in full force even when you don't get your way.
62%-38% or whatever the final number was, I forget now, that is a powerful democratic response that the pilots accepted this contract. If a candidate for President won by that margin it would be called a mandate from the people.

Questioning of the how of what we end up to vote on is not tearing the organization apart. Voting democratically on a weak product doesn't make it strong or change that we could do better. The idea is to have a superior product to vote on that reflects the achievable desires of the pilots and the direction of the status Reps. Many voted for the TA because they did not have the confidence that the MEC had enough fight after all the proclaimed "we'll get less if we go back" to go back and get more. Hardly a mandate.
How about getting a kick-ass TA the pilots can really get behind?

If not, it's basically expensive toilet paper. Paid for by us.
But it will look slick.
I think folks are tuning out alfaromeo more every day. He is clearly not interested in getting us more money and more time off. He seems to be attempting to consolidate his own influence by shouting down any dissent.
He has his own agenda which doesn't seem to overlap at all with that of the line pilot. He is on the fringe. No nifty wordsmithg on his part can mask that.

Assigning motive to the efforts of someone you've never met is pretty disgusting. Your dislike of his perspective and position does not detract from actual results he's helped produce. In fact, your unwillingness to do anything other than lob nonsense from a keyboard versus actually step up and do some work is quite an "unmasking of your benefit" to the pilot group.
For example: fly4hire may have a different perspective than alfa, but he actually put his time and energy into helping his fellow pilots' lives also. I respect that effort, its a thankless and time consuming job.
Actions speak much louder than words, so PD I guess that makes you well, a nothing. Enjoy the ignore list.
Thank you alfa, fly4hire, ACL, and the others of APC who post or lurk that have stepped forward to help their fellow pilots. I encourage the rest of the members of this forum to follow their lead and participate when called upon.

yes, we get it. And he's parlayed that "selfless" service into a highly lucrative consulting gig for himself while treating Delta line pilots like village idiots.
not surprising that one of Moak's disciples jumps to the defense of another. bravo.

How are unelected committee guys "powerful?" They only vote when they elect reps or during MEMRAT, the same as everyone else. Is there a Rasputin running around that I don't know about?
How do they influence the MEC administration, let alone the MEC?

The same people that say I think I am "the smartest guy in the room" also attribute some type of Jedi mind control to me where I get the elected reps and the entire pilot group to vote against their interests for my supposed nefarious motives. As you said, the reps are more than capable of making their own decisions, it's extremely insulting to think that they would so easily be swayed to vote one way or the other. In essence, they are asserting that the Delta pilots can't even vote for their own reps, because the reps they choose are so easily manipulated. In reality, I am just another pilot that tried his best, succeeded sometimes, and failed often. The only difference is that when I failed I accepted my own responsibility and tried to learn from it. I did not try to find some conspiracy or boogyman to blame my failures on.
Speaking of motives, these people cannot come up with a logical reason why I and others would try to sabotage the contract. I get the same pay rates as every other Delta pilot, work under the same rules as every other Delta pilot, I am not independently wealthy, and I work this job to support my family just like everyone else here. Why on Earth would I not want to make our contract the best possible? What is the motivation here?
As far as Jedi mind control, if after reading this post you find a transfer of half your mid month paycheck to my bank account, don't question it, just accept it.
