You weren't unfair to count incumbents, you were just trying to hide what the record is on non-incumbents.

Indeed. Makes you wonder why ALPA endorsed Obama when now we see Obama strongly supporting the Export/Import Bank and trying to shame the Republicans for wanting it scrapped. That's what happens when you knee-jerk support the far left without thinking.

Yeah...I'll let the numbers speak for themselves:

This is from the list of non-incumbents to which ALPA PAC supported financially for candidates to win House and Senate seats:

2007-2008: Democrats 21...Republicsns 0

2009-2010: Democrats 24...Republicans 3

2011-2012: Democrats 40...Republicans 5

2013-2014: Democrats 21...Republicans 1

Why aren't there many Republicans that support us? That should be just a big of a red flag...

Obama, Reid and Pelosi are strongly supporting the Export/Import Bank and are actively shaming Republicans who want to scrap the Ex/Im Bank. I'd say that's a very big issue that shows Republicans supporting our wishes, wouldn't you?

I paid about $9K per year, it is now $35K per year.

ERAU is now $250K minimum for a flight degree.

To top it all off, youtube is a vastly superior educational resource than college.

True. However, one of our newest conversative, "pilot partisan" advocates, Rep Kinzinger (R-IL), who I might add supports #denyNAI, is fully in favor of the Ex-Im bank. That's just his opinion, man.

It goes to show you'll never get a "perfectly molded" candidate for all of our issues. But all we can do is try to talk to *everyone* on the Hill (not just the D's, not just the R's), and ask them to support our issues and be able to provide them with well-thought-out reasoning.

I *wish* I could find more balance on the hill so that I could have the trust of the pilots I try to convince that ALPA PAC is a good idea.

^not currently a Legislative Affairs Rep, but was one

FWIW.

So we've got that going for us ...
Most of our competitors are growing and we are shrinking. I sure hope there is something else coming down the pike.

No worries. Since he ran as a republican, there was no ALPA PAC support whatsoever when he was elected in 2011.

No, it goes to show you that ALPA PAC very rarely supports a republican when that republican is trying to unseat a democrat incumbent.

It's not a lack of balance on the hill that prevented the trust you sought amongst your member pilots, it's the lack of balance within the ALPA PAC that fosters the mistrust. Just look at these numbers on how ALPA PAC supports new congressional candidates:

2007-2008: Democrats 21...Republicans 0
2009-2010: Democrats 24...Republicans 3
2011-2012: Democrats 40...Republicans 5
2013-2014: Democrats 21...Republicans 1

This very clearly shows the mindset of how ALPA PAC would like to see the congress trend. It's what prevents me from sending money to you. When I see those contributions for Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, then the endorsement of Obama, it's clear the PAC's views and my views couldn't be farther apart. Sure glad to see these "pilot partisans" supporting us against the Export/Import Bank...right?

Oh, that's sweet of you, to accuse me of being on the take.

Do you really seriously believe Delta is shrinking when we are hiring approximately 85 pilots a month? We are now back up to over 12000 pilots on the seniority list. Now, if you want to say top end flying is shrinking, I might give it some thought.

When you lobby congress, I hope you listen better than this. Where did I accuse you of "being on the take?" Why would you jump to that defensive conclusion by my stating that your bias is likely due to you working in the ALPA PAC? Yikes. My "bread is buttered" by Delta because I work there, not because I'm "on the take." Same with you at ALPA PAC.

Guilty conscience about something maybe?

Oh there is. Dickson is looking forward to discussing with DALPA ways to mitigate displacements.

DALPA's on it.
