They have? The only changes I've seen since the late '90s was going down to a 9-month freeze for going 7ER to 765 and imposing a 1-year freeze on new-hires.

Did I miss something?

I wonder if M88 guys who could be brought up to 73N rates or 330 guys who could be brought up to 777 rates would agree with that.

Pay banding = fewer pilots = fewer captains = concession

You knew that, though

Not if you offset it with more vacation, training pay, etc. so that you need just as many pilots as before.

Agreed.

Not necessarily. For me, at least, upgrading to a larger piece of equipment or to Captain is all about the pay. If I can get that higher pay without upgrading, what have I lost by delaying that upgrade?

We had a 1 year freeze.

Dude, quit squirming for crumbs.

Those are aberrations that should be corrected, not pay banding.

Sounds cost-neutral to me

We already have pay banding, most of us just don't want to see any fewer bands.

The company on the other hand, would love to have just one big pay band, and then get rid of about 10% of the total pilots, the ones currently tied up in training for upgrades to higher paying equipment.

And SF, when did we ever have a 3 year seat lock?

He's right. We had a 1-year freeze in C2K and went to 2 years in LOA46.
