It was AWESOME! Lots of great plays, and lots of busted noses and broken fingers and bloody ears! But you are right about the concussions, as a kid I played football from age 8 through 17. We were always taught to, "Put your helmet on him!" i.e. lead with your head. I had a few concussions in high school and I saw a lot more. America will do better in 7s before 15s. Less technical and more athletic. As kids gravitate away from football, it's still unclear what sport will be the winner. When American kids realize how much money there is in non traditional sports, the trend will accelerate. |

Helmets have a lot to do with it and also the success of American football is measured in yards gained. In Rugby it's not so much yards gained, though the scoring is similar, but in possession. When you tackle in football you try to drive him back or stop progress. In rugby you just have to bring him to ground and you can use his momentum and give up yds.

Yes, rugby 15s is the normal game. 15 players a side. That's where you get your scrums. 7s are 7 a side. Same size pitch just half the people so theres much more space to run and maneuver. It is a cardio intensive game. It's usually played in the summer and there is a huge tournament in Vegas every year.

That sounds like it would be fun to watch, is it like 'pre-season' games, i.e. just for training and not covered, or is there a league, is it televised?
I would much rather watch Rugby than Soccer, that's for sure! |
If LHR is one of our main focus cities, why did we not go after the PHL-LHR slot AA have to give up, as required by the EU?
