We'd fly 330's and 350's out of SEA too, but I think the 787 has a lot of "intangible" qualities beyond price and performance.

Jmho..

I have to disagree with you and sailing. I have had an intimate relationship with Seattle since the Boeing 747 depression and these billboards were around town.

This region has changed a lot. Most people couldn't identify a Boeing or an Airbus on the ramp or airborne. They can tell you if it's an Alaska jet. Additionally, many wouldn't know what a Delta plane looked like if you covered up the name on the fuselage. They care about price and not getting the middle seat.

Acquiring gates, customs facilities, landing slots, etc are collective business decisions just as purchasing airplanes are.

RA is a great businessman and negotiator. Look how skilled the company managed C12k if you have any doubts. He will not over pay for any airplane, or chose a substandard one over a better performing one, to curry favor when in reality none needs to be curried. It's not good business. It's also not in the game theory matrix.

That all being said, I do continually scratch my head when I get in a 900.

Guess that's why Crew Resources doesn't need a west coast 717 base! Plenty of 2 class metal flown by our "regional" partners.

Anyone finishing OE in December.

You have the option to request a regular schedule before your last day of OE. You will the have a blank schedule for the rest of December. There is no pay guarantee so you will have to pick up trips from open time or the swap board but you can get Christmas off if you want.

What's the PWA reference for that? I thought it went away when we got rid of "bid qualified" and "not bid qualified", but I could be wrong about that.

In years past, if you were not bid qualified and couldn't bid for the month because you hadn't completed OE, you would get a specially created reserve line upon your completion of OE unless you called them as soon as you completed OE and requested a blank regular line.

Now, everyone bids every month (unless you are on a leave) and there is no such things as being bid qualified. You get what you were originally awarded on your bid when you're done with OE.

Seattle to Denver, Boise, Sitka, Ketchikan, and Sacramento. All on RJ's.

Congrats to my DCI brethren on all the new Seattle flying! We will need someone to feed our upcoming JV partner widebodies, and it looks like you are the winning bidder. Gotta admit, we can't have that many people flying into these little places like Grand Forks, Denver, Minot, Sacramento...etc.

To my mainline friends, remember, the regional model is dead and bottom end scope doesn't matter.

I dislike RJs as much as the next guy, but they're also adding flying on mainline airplanes to Atlanta, Salt Lake, Anchorage and others. Coupled with hiring and a rumored wide body order, the cup isn't half empty, especially compared with years past when this airline was nearly dead.

Deltanet down?

Is everyone else having trouble getting into Deltanet? Or is this their way of telling me not to bother coming to work tomorrow?

It would not work the last hour. Could be the first day of flight attendant swaps and pickups for Dec. That always drags it down.
