Lax 7era back doors are out.
I am confused with the first paragraph's last sentence. What does it mean "if you don't start duty before 2000..."? If I start a duty period (FDP or SCR) that runs past 2000 Saturday, then I will not have 30 rest in last 168.
Also, ...on my first day of reserve, I got assigned SC at 1100. Did my duty begin at 0000 (no rest comment on schedule) or is the first 11 hours of that first day considered rest?

I believe (don't know) that if you acknowledge your 1100 SC before your LC starts, your duty would start at 1100. But if you don't, it will start at 0000... When you either check your schedule or get a call from scheduling. But I'm not sure on that specific, nor am I sure anyone else is clear on it.
Seriously? I certainly believe in double checking each other, but this "getting permission" to execute everything is getting ridiculous. With 20-30 years + of experience for each of us, I expect each of us to have "graduate level" flying abilities. (Although I fully realize this "std text/sopa/smac" philosophy is rapidly coming to a theatre near you... Yay! )
I guess I'm a bit of a dinosaur... retirement can't come soon enough.
BTW, my brief into the ATL on a Cavu day is: "Std vmc brief. Any questions?" (How many bazillion times has an ATL pilot flown into ATL? I really don't think I need any more brief than this to be safe. YMMV.)

And I've seen the crustiest of the crusties try and build that RNAV visual into the most CAVU day in ATL despite my attempts to persuade him otherwise. Phone call to ATC followed the landing.
Also, our pilot corps is quickly being filled with many without fms experience. So a little extra communications should not be frowned upon. JMO.

We would be fools to consider any change in profit sharing (PS).
First off PS is now part of our contract, status quo, so to speak. Why should we have to put it up for consideration at all?
The company may want to decrease it - who cares?
Even if we did decide to monetize it how could we be sure we are getting a good "rate of return?"
PS is growing very quickly so lets enjoy it. If the company wants to drag out C2016 let them - our PS will help minimize the pain. If fuel continues its slide who knows how high PS can go.
Oh yeah, I forgot about the dreaded "Black Swan" (BS) event. Well we have to stop worrying about something we have no control over.
Besides if we do have a BS event everything would be on the table - it would be an all hands on deck to save the company type of deal.
And we know what that means - Labor takes it in the shorts permanently, management takes a temporary hit but that reaps a windfall for "saving the company."
So in reality, if we decide, foolishly in my opinion, to "monetize" PS in order to inoculate ourselves against a BS event we must realize that it would only help for a very limited range of BS event. Too small an event would not matter, too large an event and we get hit with a Force Majeure anway.
So maybe, just maybe, we might get a good rate on monetizing our PS. And then maybe, just maybe, we have a BS event of just the right size magnitude that our profits are permanently affected but the company does not hit the Force Majeure range.
I for one would be willing to take my changes on this.
Dont touch PS!
Scoop - My 2 cents

This level of profit sharing actually makes the status quo requirements of the Railway Labor Act work on our behalf for a change. Of course our MEC chairman and his admins know this also and will see it as an imperative to give that leverage away quickly in order to achieve an even quicker deal.
I hope everyone discusses this with their reps and demand that their reps vote DOWN the TA when it's done quickly with lower profit sharing.

I'm a strong believer in the Navy's original philosophy... Aviate, Navigate and Communicate... in that order. The times I see the most errors is when I see guys putting more emphasis on communicating than aviating!
It wasn't a permissions issue, it was communicating.

I disagree. The oligopoly with our 3 partners is strong and solid. It would take years to flood the market. All current players understand capacity discipline.
Our economy is hitting it's stride. More than 5 million Americans were hired in September alone. 2.5 million quit to go to higher paying jobs. I could go on and on and on, but the simple fact is demand will keep increasing domestically and we will be wildly profitable for years.
Why lower expectations Sailing? What is your goal? Maybe if Delta makes "one trillion dollars" you and Austin Powers will think we deserve to restore our concessions.

How else am I going to get the full story if the non-Faux News media won't air this?
