International is totally different. Domestic 5-days are fatiguing. Short layovers, lots of legs, not fun.
I get why commuters want them, but watch trip coverage on the 320. More than half of them go to junior guys who live in base and don't want them, or reserves. The commuters for the ER here want them, but then bid to the int'l stuff since you work less and get about the same amount of time. So the local guys get to fly this crap. This month I have two back to back 5 day trips both with red eyes. I don't mind flying a red eye but not ending with one and then starting with one. 117 SUCKS! |

Interesting fun fact.
The upgrade times at Delta are less than the upgrade times at SkyWest. Junior Delta Captain July 2007. Junior SkyWest Captain June 2007. Junior ExpressJet Captain Jan 2007. |

NWA use to have 9 day trips on the 744 worth about 75 hrs. You could do one the first nine days of one month and the last nine days of the next and have 6 weeks off in between. It was sweet
You could easily guarantee yourself 30 days off between trips and if an unfortunate sick occurrence would happen, you now had over 60 days of uninterrupted time with the family. I have flown both the longer trips (12 to 14 day) and the shorter 3 day trips. My wife and family (raised 4 kids) all agree we prefer the longer trips since Dad is home more often and at longer periods. Although, the 3 day trips at NWA did have an attraction to many, but with our post merger contract, they became crappy 4 day trips that are avoided. Our Rotation Construction Committee is tasked with a thankless job of trying to satisfy everyone's needs and IMHO they seem to be doing a good job. I appreciate their efforts but do realize they are constrained by different limitations we as "line smucks" don't recognize or see. All the best, OC |

Amen. You get mugged all the time. Lose hubcaps. And develop an accent. Plus you have to cover all 3 airports.

I'm guessing this has something to do with the Virgin Atlantic joint venture. Could you please explain? The answers to the above questions are 56,812 and 67.02%. My preschool daughter could answer those questions.
