Make that a two day :-)
3 * 5:15 = 15:45 which exceeds ALV + 15 in your example.

After selecting "Sick Time Usages and Balances" you will see a "By Bid Period" option where you select a specific Bid Period to view that month's usages and balances. Each time you hit enter under that display it progresses forward to the next bid period, so this can be useful for viewing month to month information. You can also access the sick occurrence info mentioned above from this view by selecting F8. The other viewing option is "By Year" and it shows the sick leave year (June 1 - May 31) balances for the last 4 years.
A month where the ALV is 84:00, you could be at 79:59 (1 minute below your reserve guarantee of 80:00) and be assigned a trip valued at 19:01 and be right at ALV + 15.
All that being said, I think guys getting tagged to the limit like that is very rare and only slightly more commonplace than unicorn sightings. It happens, but not very often. I hope to see it restricted further in the future.

DCI is not delivering the schedule
"717 and 737 deliveries are accelerating"
A330 fleet is to expect new hires with NYC cats opening
E periods on M88
E periods on 737, LAX dudes only
MIA location for 320 starting Spring
2 cents, I also heard around the training center:

Newhires to the 330 is highly unlikely IMO. It is NYC, so you never know. The 765 category there has always been senior. I would expect the 330 to be about the same since it pays the same.

Your advice of using a PD is pathetically out-of-touch with reality. On narrow body fleets (except for maybe the new 717 category in NY), it's impossible to use a PD on the weekends, and nearly so to use one 3-4 days in advance.
