4 year deal, done by May, 18-3-3-3 Anyone else hear that one? We've got to get past the impulse to base so much on pay tables. Scope needs huge improvements at all levels before pay even becomes relevant. |

It will all be ok. According to Timbo you just live where you want and commute to such schedules.
Oh, BTW, the NW commuters I know LOVED their 5 day trips, one less commute per month. |

I've got the number, thanks.
In the meantime, wasn't there a feature that would estimate how many lines could be built out of the available flying? I looked at the estimated PBS Line Count document which (I hope) didn't make sense. At the top it shows Projected Number of REG line holders (13). When I scrolled down there was a 2 column chart titled "REGS", the number here (39) wasn't the same as from the top chart -- any insight what that 2 column chart represents? As a complete noob observation, it appeared there was way too much flying in the bid package for only 13 lines. I looked at 717 for NYC and there were a total of 105 trips for an average of 3.09 days each. For simplicity/worst case I assumed min credit of 5:15 per day, then multiplied by the average trip length of 3.09 then multiplied by trips of 105. I divided by ALV of 73 and came up with 23 lines of flying. Realistically some guys will help fill their schedule with vacation, and some of those days will give more than min credit which should mean more than 23 lines of flying. Is my math wrong or was the February estimate from the Bid Packages and Awards page incorrect? |

Depends on the trips. A high credit commutable (both ends) 5 day can be a good deal. A 25ish hour 5 day with one or both ends not commutable is a POS trip all day long.
It is what it is, and one man's trash is another man's treasure. If you don't like it, don't bid it. The only guys who have no choice in the matter are the absolute Newbs, and a year from now, they too will be able to bid off it. |

Here at AA. Deal is crap. We don't get profit sharing like you guys and the TA has major holes in it which include:
-no min calendar day credit (just per duty period) we have 11 hour 3 days -A321 pay is at A320 rate even though it carries same pax as 757. New A321neo will be able to do Europe at narrow body rates. -5 YEARS duration which puts us well into 2020+ before a contract that doesn't have bk work rules. |

I haven't looked too closely at the 717 in NY, but it might be that there are not enough guys trained on it yet, thus the low line counts?

That is a true statement; however, the flying presented in the bid package is far more than the 13 lines stated in the estimated regular lines document. I'll ask that question while I'm asking questions about what might be a nonapplicable bid :).
Bid what you want...and hope for the best. A year from now things will have settled down a bit and those estimated line counts might actually mean something. |

Wow the February bid packages have been out for hours and no complaints about additional domestic categories that have 5 day trips.
FWIW - For LAX 73N there are more than I thought, and they pay from about 27-31 hours. Not too bad for a commuter. Once I get the DA quirk fixed I can perform a more in depth analysis. Scoop I don't see any 20+ leg trips. Mostly 12-16 legs. About 52% are credit 27 hours or less. About 15% exceed 28 hours. 5% exceed 29. I only counted one trip with zero credit. The rest range from 6-10 hours of credit, many have 12, one 5 day had only 10 hours of block on 27 hours of pay. |
