Thx.
Which Operating System are you planning to use?

Windows - Microsoft's (free) Security Essentials + Spybot Search & Destroy for the times you want to do a deep dive. Generally keep your windows security settings Medium High and Firewall on.

You're probably right, but one would think that current union members would encourage co-workers to also join a union and have some of the same protections and benefits that they have. Isn't that what part of being in a union is all about?

I know...utopia...but at least I can try. I know there's many guys out there that will support us, but also know there are plenty that could care less if we're all outsourced to Mexico.

I for one would support it. Mainly so our union could stop using the FAs as a scapegoat on why we shouldn't/can't ask for improvements in certain areas. With a contract, the FAs would have all perks and rules established and any gains would need negotiation. As it stands now, we pay dues and essentially negotiate for the other groups.

It would be nice if the flight attendant group wouldn't have to ride the coattails of the pilots and other unionized flight attendants. Plus, a lot of the tattling on both part could end with the respective professional standards committees working together. There's usually no need to get management involved...

I use AVG. Works pretty well. I don't like Windows security because you can't right click on a file and execute a scan, only on the folder the file is in. Besides that it is very good now.

ABSOLUTELY! When I was a newhire 727 S/O 18 years ago, I was flying with a former PanAm captain. Somewhere in the conversation the phrase "threatened to write me up" or something like that was uttered. His reply was great, and spot on

"What is up with this toxic culture at Delta of always threatening to 'write you up?' At PanAm if you had a problem with a FA, mechanic, or gate agent, you went to your Professional Standards committee. They then contacted that employee's union Pro Stan committee and the vast majority of the time the issue was hashed out at that level. That had two benefits.

"1. It kept issues like that out of the chief pilots hair, and that of Inflight supervisor, etc. That freed up all their energies to worry about ops related issues, and not personal conflicts.

"2. It led to more honest airing of gripes between employees. As it is, at DAL, you either have to just take it and do a slow burn, or actually write someone up and understand that their job is literally on the line. Perhaps the personal conflict was real, and needed addressing. That doesn't mean that you want the employee fired--just talked to, etc. DAL doesn't give you the option of addressing an issue without putting someone's livelihood at stake."

That alone is why I would like to see unionized FAs.

I can't tell you the horror stories i've heard from pilots while on layover of issues that arise out of nothing when dealing with flight attendants. If there was a known process for people to handle these issues without having to run to Delta it would make our lives much easier.

I personally had to talk an entire crew out of writing up an -ER Captain a few months ago because he kept making inappropriate comments about abortions. I personally didn't care and turned the other way, but it turns out 2 of the F/A's had miscarriages and weren't too happy. I talked to the Captain on the layover and suggested he might want to say a word in the van at pickup and that I talked them out of going to management and instead me sending an email to ALPA Pro Stan. I wish more F/A's would know about Pro Stan. The goal is to fix the problem, not get someone in trouble.

Actually...ALPA should print up business cards with the Pro Stan contact info and give them out to flight attendants.

I'm not to sure I'd be thrilled to vote for the IAM if I was a FA.....
