Another new guy question. Is it normal for a bid package to completely miss when estimating the number of lines? NYC 717 predicted 39 lines but there were only 26. Seems like a pretty big discontinuity, should I just disregard the prediction in the future or is this some sort of anomaly? Thanks.

DL 717s To West Coast - June 2015 — Civil Aviation Forum | Airliners.net

When I was in indoc one of the high level network guys came to speak to us and he told the story of when the company found out one of the network underlings was posting internal data and plans on airliners.net. He said "we were not happy."

Sometimes when I occasionally check airliners.net because you can find some stuff you know isn't supposed to be out there. But in this case I think it's just someone perusing our schedules.

When it came to the back and forth about Alaska and Juno and the RNP approach, there was someone from the 4th floor spilling the beans on the effort on another website. Fun to read.

Out of base white slips usually end up flying trips that reserve pilots don't want and an out of base swap board would allow a pilot to drop a trip that he would otherwise get stuck flying. Seems like a win win but I realize that there are probably some negative consequences that I'm overlooking.

Thanks FTB. Interesting stuff. Hopefully we follow through with that plan this time. It would be fun to see different parts of the US of A!

Is there any seniority consideration when awarding YS to fly when on reserve? A friend and I are separated by 1 number with a similar YS to fly on reserve submitted. He got called for a trip while I did not and he is the junior of the two of us. He has already flown a couple trips on reserve (combined 4 days) and I've only had 1 1-day. Just curious if I should've been assigned that trip or is it completely random.

Thanks.

Can anyone recommend a place to play golf on a PBI layover? Preferably a place that has loner clubs since I'm not lugging mine all over the place.

Thanks.

You need to use "Checkout between 0500 and 2130" or two separate lines,
Checkout > 0500
Checkout < 2130

Of course as soon as we allowed them the loophole of not paying 5:15 adg for days that end before 0200 or whatever, they reprogrammed the flights to get in at 0008. A non-commutable trip end for me might as well be 1 more day of pay, as I CAN find trips that pay for their days that end at 0900 or so, as early as I'll catch a flight home anyways.

Are you both consolidated?

I put in for YSs when I was new on reserve (and thought I was getting them because I flew nearly every reserve block), but when I looked at the Pilot Activity Statements (I think) for the time period, they were not YS awards after all.

I think the schedulers push newbs to get consolidated ASAP.

Maybe you're consolidated and he's not? Did he actually get a YS?
