Results matter:

over 53% increase in the pay charts in 7 years

Personal results, my income received from DAL has increased by over 100% in the last 7 years, even when adjusting out longevity steps (and I stayed in the same seat that whole time).

If we see another 53% over the following 7 years and my pay doubles again without changing categories, I don't really care if ALPA sends out letters with nothing but dancing banana emoticons.

I don't know about you, but I can't find that many more available hours (at home, or in Open Time) to get that kind of increase again (or ever).:D

My point being, a lot of the increase for many has been due to GSs and other maneuvering. Let's see the increases in the Pay Rates.

Let's hope the results of the survey which asked us how important (i.e. how we felt about GIVING UP) Profit Sharing and (taking on) Split Duty Periods are not interpreted without some common sense. As in, while this survey asked about SDPs which about ~15 pilots asked for 4 years ago maybe the NC should look at serious increases to pay even though the survey didn't mention jack about how important pay restoration was to the group. Had to get that off my chest.

Pretty sure your DALPA buddies have that info.

Looks like someone posted them, thanks anyway.

IMO ALPA is losing friends fast.

I think that's probably right.

Got this letter from the DPA website about the Virgin Atlantic pilots:

------------

Dear Tim and members of DPA,

I write to introduce you to the PPU, the majority pilots’ union within Virgin Atlantic Airways.

You will find that the PPU and the DPA’s journey’s have been very similar and also our raison d’etre.

Please have a look at our website:- Home

We started with no members in January 2013 and now have 75% of VAA’s unionised pilots as members, representing approximately 65% of the total pilot workforce. Our growth has been consistent and relentless.

On January 29th, we enter discussions with VAA regarding “a review of pilot representation within VAA”.

Interestingly, the incumbent recognised union (that we intend to replace) BALPA, will be holding an “all Virgin Atlantic Pilots meeting” on the same evening, attended by DALMEC.

So Tim, we’re walking the same road as DPA and for the same reasons.

I would therefore like to open communications between the PPU and DPA, so please feel free to call me. We look forward to forging a mutually constructive relationship with DPA at the earliest opportunity.

Kindest regards

Barry Eustance

Chairman - On Behalf of the PPU

Representing the majority of pilots in Virgin Atlantic Airways

--------------------

Carl

Hey, for the record I did not put 'Super Moderator' in my profile. After all, everyone knows the one and only true Super Moderator is his Clampness, 80 KTs Clamp! :p

How do you feel about the crew hotel?

I just got back from a long weekend with the wife there. Crew hotel will give you a Delta rate of $77, then $20 each for access to the all-inclusive resort next door--$117 / nt out the door for two people, all inclusive (spa, casino, & gift shop are the only places to spend additional money without going off-property). Cab is $35 to/from airport, or you could try to work a ride with the crew (assuming you're on a layover flight).

Multiple pools, bars, restaurants, & beach all on-property; walking to other resorts on the beach or to a rather Americanized shopping mall (if you want to get your Hard Rock Cafe on), as well as a handful of local restaurants on the street side & shacks selling trinkets on the beach side.

There are undoubtedly fancier places in the D.R., but this was a pretty good deal for a long weekend (the food's good, but I could see it getting repetitive after more than 4 days or so).
