Re comments on accelerating narrow body deliveries, I don't think either Airbus nor Boeing can deliver A321's and B737-900ER's any faster during 2015 than already scheduled. However the final 36 717's that Southwest (AirTran) parked at year end 2014 and which were planned to enter the Delta fleet at the rate of 3 per month during 2015, will IMHO, have a faster ramp up, with the effort to have all 36 ''up and running'' by end of summer time. The larger classes in January seem to indicate this, and I think we will hear reports of the mods from AirTran 717 to Delta standard MD-95 :-) configuration being accelerated in the next few weeks.

Can't swap. I've tried all month. I'm a line holder and looking at bidding reserve due to a sweet Feb vacation 12 days(sarcasm). Reserve guarantee is 74.30 in Feb and trying to figure out if it goes above guarantee and worth bidding reserve. Seems I will have 7 days on call if I bid reserve. Just wondering pay. Thanks

Actually a LAX Guy (could have been a FE or FO) got fired in the 90's for showing up and attempting to fly a whole rotation with no shoes. True story, although I may be off a little on some of the details. This is one of the base "Folklore" stories that we are told in LAX - along with the CAPT that threw the TV out of the window and, the Female CAPT that someone called security on because they thought she was a hooker in the crew room.
He said something like he was sitting SC and on the beach and his stuff got stolen. Shows up with no shoes. CAPT says - I will do the Walk-arounds today, stay in the cockpit and tonight on layover get a new pair. Shows up day 2. No shoes. CAPT says what happened. FO//FE guy says I didn't have enough money to buy shoes. They repeat the same drill on day 2 but this time the CAPT lends the guys money to buy shoes. Shows up day 3 with no shoes. CAPT has enough. All Pilots report to CPO after trip. Guy gets fired. I don't know if this guy actually had mental issues or some shoe phobia but this is a true story. Scoop :p |
C2015 opener
It seems some folks are surprised the MEC said they will release the C2015 opener. They did the same for C2012 but keep in mind it was extremely vague. Here is what was in our C2012 opener under the compensation section:
• Significantly increase hourly rates of pay • Provide for retroactive pay and benefits to the amendable date (if necessary) • Increase international pay and cover all operations outside the 48 contiguous states • Establish MED pay • Establish holiday pay • Improve the Profit Sharing Plan |
PBS question
As I look at the Feb schedule, lots of things have changed (largely for the better, IMO & specific to my situation). I also see several situations that make me wonder the following:
Will PBS award a bid for two pairings that, if combined into a single pairing would be legal, but as two separate pairings would not be legal (not enough rest between)? For example: 2-day trip blocks in at 1000L after a 0730 report to a one-leg duty period; 3-day trip checks-in at 1200L for a one-leg duty period blocking in 1500L. Obviously <10 hours between them (1030 - 1200 = 1.5 hours), so not legal rest. However, plenty of 4-day trips have a 3-hour sit in between two legs for an 8-hour duty day, as this would be if you put the two trips together. Will PBS allow this (in effect "building" a 4-day out of a 2+3 day), or would one or the other trip be denied for legal rest once the first trip is added? |

Any easy way, sans bid packets, to see the 330 destinations?
Thinking about sandbagging again! I know BOM is gone, but not a fan of Africa flying. Is there a list, particularly JFK departures? |

We failed the last 3 goals and decreased profit sharing plan. Why did we sign early again?
Regarding your post above, do you expect us to get everything we open with? Does it surprise anyone that management might (probably) want to reduce or eliminate profit sharing? Will they get everything that they open with? It's called a negotiation for a reason, and it doesn't officially begin for almost another 3 months. Anything else you hear at this point is speculation/rumor mill. |

I signed early (voted yes) because the good outweighed the bad IMO. That's all any of us can do as individuals. I'm still happy with my decision, especially since we are now negotiating from a much higher position less than 2.5 years later. Given the historical, glacial pace of Section 6 negotiations we could easily still be talking about C2012. I'm pleased that we aren't. You clearly came to a different decision given the same set of facts and that is fine.
