Here's a question from a Newbie to change the topic. (I'll be starting indoc soon). If I get sick before I start a trip from my domicile, no big deal, as the company can just call a reserve pilot to cover for me. But what if I'm on Day 2 or 3 of a 4 day trip, and I wake up in say Tulsa, or Jackson, MS, and I realize I'm too sick to fly. How does the company get a pilot out to where you are to cover the flight for you?

In an attempt to not continue down the quasi-political path of this discussion, ultimately leading to an infraction by THE 80ktsclamp, I'll refrain from answering your questions to the depth I would if we were talking about this over a beer. :)
For the rest, I'll have to answer later. (Friends are wanting to grab eats & drinks...priorities!! ) FWIW, I think that the current administration has lacked the leadership ability of those in the past. That's my opinion. There are more examples than I have time to post, but when the media and elected officials in one's own political party refuse to campaign with the POTUS, that signifies serious issues. Cheers.

Yesterday he said Isis is morally "bankrupt." Ooh. That will show them

COEXIST.

You are giving Barry far too much credit. International leaders see him for the joke that he is....This was more than an attack on Jordan this was an attack on a US led coalition.....and we are doing nothing and the WORLD knows it.

I thought, shooting from the hip, that they were disbanded immediately after Baghdad fell. I think Rumsfeld said in hindsight they should have kept the Iraqi army intact.
What they should have done is put THE 80ktsclamp super moderator in charge. NewK would've been to thoughtful (smiley) and Timbo would've just drank all the beer and chased burkas. |

It was actually the retired general who was initially put in charge that wanted to keep the Iraqi army intact and pay them. The suit that shortly came later quickly disbanded it. It's a tough call actually. However, in the end disbanding the army caused multitudes of problems which may or may not have materialized.

That would have solved a lot of problems, no doubt! You wonder why all those ISIS guys are so pizzed off at us? It's because Beer is not allowed in their world. :D |

That would be, as they say, their problem. If you can't safely fly, don't try. Delta has chartered G5s to protect flights. But TUL would most likely cancel. The more heads up you can give about being sick, the better for everyone. And you'll be deadhead back to base, or more likely wherever you want to go. Let the Capt know you banged out too, so he has a fighting chance at getting things arranged.
To further answer your question Bronco you call crew tracking. There is someone that will handle it. I've done it twice and if I'm not mistaken there is even a prompt for mid rotation sick calls. Maybe I'm wrong. I've had it twice, both for bad food at airports. One was Buffalo, actually the overnight hotel, and the other was at the GRR airport. I mean I went to the overnight hoping things would get better because most of the time it does. In these cases it didn't. In both cases I had 5 leg days the next day and I said I can get the plane back no problem because I am perfectly fine for an hour or two, but I can't go all day like this tomorrow. I mean it happens. You might feel perfectly fine and then have a ear get blocked up on landing and not be able to clear it. You're in no shape to fly. You might not even be able to deadhead home. I've seen stuff like that and I've even heard the company let a guy stay in a hotel for two days to let him recover to the point he could deadhead. |
