Hello, age 65? How many pilots did we have over 60 in 2012? How about now? When you run max hours during the summer and only offer summer vacation weeks to a few pilots, does that have anything to do with it? How about having the most commuters of any airline and a huge operation in NY that melts down every time a light breeze and some drizzle rolls in? FAR 117 came into effect, and many pilots are pushing the limits of that new reg every day now. How are these issues being factored into that goal?
If it is higher, is that any surprise considering we are the only major that doesn't pay out unused sick time? So does that put us at a competitive disadvantage if our company gets to pocket the cash instead of giving it to the pilot that accrued it? I'm sorry, but you can't have it both ways... |
I think a part of sick time usage going up is the change to part 117. It used to be that you didn't have to worry about back to back to back trips domestically because 30/7 prevented it. Now, if you don't watch it while bidding, you could have all your flying in a 14-16 period as long as you have a long layover some where. This becomes exhausting after a while and the immune system may start to break down.

No kidding. I don't even bother reading anything with his name on it. He's not on our side. He is flat out sitting on the other side of the negotiating table. That being said, you can bet your ass our 2015 sick leave will be a concession from 2012's. It never crosses the company's mind that we had pilots flying sick in the past. They are more worried about industry standard then they are about having sick pilots in the cockpit.
The same article mentions that our "mishaps" are down in every category. Maybe not flying sick helps contribute to this? |

The problem is when "our" "union" takes up his case, and uses our dues money against us. Take that Curly guy on the other forum. He was paid thousands of our dues dollars in flight pay loss...just to organize the golf tournament at the last BoD meeting. Then he turns around and pushes the company's talking points on sick leave "abuse," advocating for concessions! He sounds exactly like SD. Why are we ok with a "union" who pays a guy our money for doing absolutely nothing of value to the line pilot, only to have him turn around and actively work against us?:mad: Let's see a memo from Donatelli today stating in no uncertain terms that our sick leave usage is just fine as it stands. Let's see some leadership and a little fire in his belly. |
Anyone know how many years SD flew the line vs office work? My guess is not too long. Maybe if he flew several years of 75-90 hour months he'd have a different perspective.

Crew resources letter out. Sounds like a West coast 717 base by the end of the year.

I think you will need at least 1 more package of the white cotton and probably some Budro's butt paste to put that fire out:eek:
