In SDs weekly update under the "pilot productivity" portion he says sick leave usage has gone up 25% since 2012 and that a 2015 flight ops goal is to get back to industry norm. interesting.......

The same article mentions that our "mishaps" are down in every category. Maybe not flying sick helps contribute to this?

I recall Sailing suggesting not long back that reps weren't pushing the idea of trading PS for pay increases, or at least questioning such reports. Well, the last two captains I've flown with (not ones for visiting online forums discussing airline stuff) said they heard the line from guys manning the ALPA table the past week repeatedly tout the line to the effect of "That pay is AT RISK COMPENSATION." This was just after the subject of PS came up...no prompting about ALPA reps required.
I for one am prepared to see that kind of stupid come out of our contract coordination.....errrrrrr negotiation with management. Which will receive a quick NO vote from this pilot. Well, ok, I'm a wh#re....I have my price: Unless it has a 100% rate increase and 5:15/day for vac & training. Oh, and the last guy liked the galley coffee, so there's that. |

Our older guys are getting older. Offer them medical coverage and an early retirement package and those numbers will get back to industry norm

The problem with sick leave harassment programs is they work on many pilots who's goal is to never meet a chief pilot.
Seems to me intimadating pilots into flying sick is frought with risk and unlimited liability. With Delta running like a Swiss watch and making billions and billions and billions why would they make this decision? They may even succeed in reducing our sick leave in C2015, but will they make any friends? We get 700% plus and you get CONCESSIONS! |

Yeah, let's watch the news where the anchors either lie about being shot down by an RPG or unquestioningly cite bogus documents in an effort to destroy the presidential opponent you don't support. Both those guys worked for Fox News, am I right?:D

Nice thought, but apparently the increase in sick time usage is up across the entire spectrum so you can't blame it on the old guys. :D
The unionist in me thanks those guys for creating more jobs.:D |

Here: NBC's Brian Williams recants Iraq claim :roll eyes: Remember Dan Rather citing bogus military documents about G.W. Bush's national guard service? |

I'm not blaming here, but there was an interesting tidbit in the recent crew resources newsletter about the 747 sick usage and higher shortcall numbers because of it.
Yeah... can you imagine?? The oldest guys are actually getting sick during one of the worst flue seasons and biggest continuous chain of snow storms in a great many years! Who would have thunk it? |

Please tell me your joking. Turned on the news today? Didn't hear about Brian Williams lying about being on a helicopter in Iraq that was hit by a RPG?

I generally assume people who say the CIC should be brought up on treason charges are Fox lovers or Drudge readers. That is all. The lefties wanted Bush 2 brought to trial for war crimes. They are looney tunes too. |
