Don't think you will see 10000+ seniority hitting "A" in that category if the new SEA73N is any indicator..

I would bet it will settle somewhere just junior of the SLC320 A positions. It might go 8000-ish.

I thought that about the SEA73N and was off by about 2000. Lots of "sleepers" on the west coast, thinking "yeah, it's about time…."

Its a ways off though

I would like to add that if the rotation is closed and you are showing reroute pay, they can still take it away. It has happened to me.

That's a good point hockey and very true. It's wise to keep an eye on your time card regarding how your reroutes are paid, even after they show as closed. It is my understanding that a Supervisor in Crew Scheduling audits them by hand and even if the rotation is closed, he can amend the pay treatment. I wish they would notify us (CNO) when it is changed, but they don't.

Pilots can't work sick or tired. If they did, and screwed up and lost their job and a 30 year future career is wiped out is probably how much last? $6M-8M? Yeah, my tolerance for working sick is low now beyond just the safety risk.

What is too sick to an office worker vs an airline pilot? I mean if I came to work with the flu and worked at an office, what's the worst thing that happens? How about I fly an airline with the flu? What about a minor sinus issue that only hurts when you pressurize and depressurization. How about an eye infection in one eye? Can I fly like that? Bad back? Soar throat and lost my voice?

If I fly sick and screw up because of it, and I can't come up with a good explanation of why I screwed up, how much would losing this job cost me? I've got 28 years left. Two kids. Where can I go to make up this money?

I've called in a total of 8 days in 7 plus years. But, I can't work sick. It just risks too much.

And wouldn't it have been nice to have been able to accrue all of that unused sick leave for your later years, when you need back/knee/shoulder surgery or you get Malaria on a LOS layover or such, and you are out for 6 to 9 months.

You'll run out of sick leave after only 3.5 months, then go on Disability at 50% pay.

Yeah, it sucks. Don't ask me how I know.

I first met him when he was my F/O on the 757 domestic about 15 years ago. He was already working on the 4th floor even way back then and hasn't held a 'line flying' job since.

I'm not sure he's got very much Capt. time at all, just like his predecessor, Smoke'n Joe.

The VP of Flight Ops...on High Mins!

If I ask you how you know I have a feeling it'd involve a good story, like a girl and an incident that was well worth it.

Maybe they should start us on an hsa that we can save money like a 401k, let it pay for additional sick leave hours and builds otherwise it's ours for retirement. Sure guys would fly sick to save money but on the flip side just have little tolerance for that.

I mean for a new hire with 30 years left what would that be if they never touched it? Possibly $500k over 30 years? Allow guys to choose between that with fewer company paid leave hours but additional hsa money and the current system.

I made that up. Would that work or too left field?

The new "Starbucks" coffee is awful. Well I should say the coffee is probably great but when you take bad water and great coffee you get bad coffee. I'm amazed that a company like Starbucks allow's their product to be devalued like that.

I'll stick to the Starbucks from the terminal....which is probably what they hope for anyways. ;)

Where are you guys seeing this memo on sick leave?
I must have missed it.
