The 'regular line' greenslip system generally favors a few pilots who live at the top of their categories, live in base, and have complete flexibility with their lives. In many cases, they make more than the captains they fly with. Is this a fair system? It doesn't really matter, as it's the system we've got. I chafe, though, at the folks who bi$%ch about people picking up open time on a non greenslip. Don't complain about something that is 1. permitted and 2. completely legitimate. I don't have any problem with anyone greenslipping so long as they understand it's done in a trip coverage order that we all agreed to. Complaining about someone else getting a trip in coverage order is the very definition of greedy.

I agree. I live in base so it's easy for me (not senior, not junior) to get the occasional GS. With over 500 in category, there are lots of different situations/priorities/strategies. A WS is more of a sure thing if you want the trip vs the GS roll of the dice.

Exactly. How dare a junior guy pick up a trip at straight pay when a senior guy is obviously entitled to that trip at double-pay. :D

You guys already got your 5 day trips. Now you want more!!!!

You are exclamation pointing at the wrong guy. I live 25 minutes from the airport and hate five day trips but I'm junior so I'm forced into them. Clearly there isn't the demand for five day trips that they build them for in my category.

I couldn't care less about 12 hours or 10 hours between trips either, just explaining where they might have come from.

One can't have too many rounds!:D

Bingo! I'll take my chance to fly a WS because I know I'll never see a green.

My post was mostly in jest. I wasn't trying to be a d!ck. I do however hope that we do not spend a lot of negotiation power for a minority of pilots.

I would say that depends on your base and category. In mine most months I see plenty of guys near the bottom finally getting their GS#1 (since they get first dibs over someone senior who already had one). In other words, some categories have so many GS each month that almost anyone who puts in for one can get one at some point in the month.

You must be junior and jealous to make a comment like that..Everything at the airlines is based on senority(as it should be). Also, that statement is not true in all categories. I see GS #3, 4, and 5 almost every month in my category. So the junior guys are getting their share too.

I did a WS last week and I knew GS's would go out. In did this because I dropped a trip and was so far below the GS trigger it would not have paid double. The trip I WS'ed was comutable and Q trip. No reason to GS.
