As far as the LA base is concerned, you may have heard we're doing lots of terminal work there and that our ops will move to the north side of the airport. "New and improved" terminal but I don't know if that will net us more gates.

Yeah, something like almost double the gates is what I've heard (~80% more)

Wouldn't have a clue on your question concerning the alpa/dal mgt relationship and CBA change. You might address your question to J. Crane, seems he is now the expert on what is an alpa "excellent improvement" for alpa/dal mgt. Currently the only dalpa volunteer I know of that can use "excellent improvement" and the AIP info release in the same communication.
My comment was aimed at those looking to invest the next half of their lives in an airplane career. CBA controversy would be an unstable situation at any carrier, No? If I were in their shoes , I'd probably spell success... u.p.s. Sounds like you may be satisfied with the status quo here at dal? Glad it's working out for you. Scope protection? I think alpa/dalpa realized their influence and strategic plans were worth pennies on the dollar just last year. How's that JV settlement treating you? Didn't quite make up for my last 5-6yrs of stagnation(and still going strong after that last advanced entitlement). Can't wait for them to 'get em next time' on scope. At least we stopped the Donatelli 'single man' approval provision on giving away more dal flying in the TA2015 smack down. It was probably just a 'principle' thing, though, for the dal pilots. You're correct, dal will do whatever it wants. PSharing? I'm guessing we gave up enough in the current AIPs to hang on to a portion of our current PS (but never say never). Unless they trade more of it for pay rates just to whittle it down to non contract levels. Don't ya just luv paying $50-60mil for the same thing the non contracts get... or worse. What a country! Thanks for the feedback, how's this radio? |

Current proposal is a pay cut plain and simple. If nothing were to change, you would need 22%, 7%, 7% and 18%DC just to get within 85% of the contract, per ALPA. |

With the current AIPs they still asked for the ability to remove an unlimited amount from the PS pool and get rid of me to clause to match other airlines' rates.

AE is out.
At first glance, junior captain on it is 12,200. March 2015 hire. |

Anybody know how many of the AE positions are still vacant and to be filled?
And, I've got to ask the question: why are they still awarding 747 F/O positions? Look at the August reserve list on that thing compared to any narrowbody aircraft in NYC. Can we borrow some of these guys??? And that isn't a jab at 747 guys. If I could hold it, I would and gladly commute to reserve. But I don't understand the logic behind awarding that to people when they appear to have more reserves than they know what to do with, the summer months are over and the fleet is shrinking. Meanwhile...in narrowbody NYC land there isn't a single day of positive reserve coverage on the 717, M88, A320, or 757 (and just a handful on the 737 right at the minimum level). Again....not an attack on the widebody guys. I hope to be one of you someday. It just makes no sense to me why they underman NYC so much and keep adding bodies to fleets that seem to have plenty of bodies already. I'm hoping the 500 new hires coming July through October will help things out with some schedule flexibility and coverage. |
