We got to talking and he said the agent asked him to take the jumpseat instead of his PS seat so some non-revs could get on. About 25 minutes before push, the Captain asked me to run up to the counter to get some paperwork, where I see a DL pilot I know trying to get on the jumpseat on this flight. Agent says, "sorry, both jumpseats are full, it's too late to list you for this flight."

There are many ways that taking the jumpseat instead of a DH seat is bad.
With 25 minutes to go I assume the Captain fixed the issue when you brought it to his attention!

It never happens like that. The walk-up jumpseater gets left behind every time. This needs to be black and white. When deadheading, the jumpseat is not an option.

No, because the LCA had made the choice, not the Captain. When I told the LCA, he said, "the agent said there wasn't anybody who wanted the jumpseat". When I said there was a guy out there now trying to jumpseat, the LCA just sat there and didn't say anything. We left without the other guy.

Just make sure you don't take the J/S till 10 min before departure. For the guy that said the agent just took away his DH seat and assign him the J/S the best bet is call CS and tell them you have been denied boarding. Gets everybody's attention.
