I'm right there with ya. Pretty soon I'll be sealing up in a plastic bag with an O2 bottle in the room. F/O just relayed a story this morning about his CA finding a used condom in the covers at the BOS Plaza.

I'd love to see a Nightline expose on the hidden germs in a cockpit! I still haven't gotten over a 73 "bro" leaving a big dollop of creamy ranch dressing in my seat a few years ago. At least I choose to believe it was "creamy ranch dressing."

Well, that sort of puts the noise and comfort problems in perspective. I feel sorry for guys flying 737's to BOS.

I frigging hate when someone wraps the DC headset up all gnarled up and tight and shoves it into the headset compartment where it gets further jacked up with other headsets and earcups fall off etc... That "official" storage location is a recipe for broken headsets.

Most of the time on the 73 I find the FO headset either in the side "chiller" compartment near the sunscreen, or in the Vol II book compartment near the CB, or hanging on the rail nicely out of the way. All three spots are vastly better than above the coat closet.

Leaving it plugged in or with the cord draped in wierd ways isn't too cool though...

As a 73 jumpseater all the time, it seems most guys I see use the provided headset. I have, with the earplugs in, when my own headset broke. Works well, lasts long time, less crap to carry around. Still trying to decide what new noise cancellation headset would be best for 73...

In all honesty, where a guy leaves the headset is no where NEAR as annoying as the guys who turn all the volume switches to zero, all the light switches to zero, run seat full up and pull the belt down tight, rudders full up, etc... on a mid-day turn when they arrive late, and the next crew is waiting in the jetway.

What if the guys that know how to perfectly put away headsets... did, so that the morons that don't know how to put them away... didn't?

Win/win.

Thank you! Nothing more annoying than seeing a thyroid problem over 6 feet tall walk off the plane and then discover the seat and rudder pedals are set for a hobbit.
