I was in similar situation in Hawaii a few years back. I spoke to the agent, was very nice, and just asked them if there was any way that was ok with the rules and did not hose anyone else. They hooked me up.

Use VNAV to the feather(or whatever they call it now) and you'll be fine there and every other airport. Many guys don't do it on a real ILS OR a visual approach and merely just hit the Approach button and follow the GS down. That WON'T assure making all those altitude constraints.

I'll bet all of the open F/C seats get filled up with frequent flyer upgrades, so it may not be an issues. You could show your ID to the agent, explain why you are traveling, and ask if there's any chance any one of those seats might be open. Be sure you talk to the Purser too, if you get the stiff arm from the agent. She might be able to move you after the door is closed.

The union is keeping things very low key so far.
Presumably that's the plan. That's Moakism. Constructive engagement. etc. etc.
Working with management will yield the best result. That's the theory.

As long as that is the strategy I don't think DALPA really wants any sort of pilot activism. At least not public activism.
For some, an "On Time, On Target" bag tag is probably already too militant and disrespectful.

That's the union we elected and I'm OK with that as long as negotiations are moving forward.
The MEC knows they have our support. No bag tags required.

The whole "cooperation not confrontation" approach is DALPA's choice. You can't really blame the pilot group for being quiet right now. Everybody is waiting to see what comes out of the negotiations. We're just letting DALPA follow their game plan.

I think Anderson is going to agree to a great contract.
We deserve it and he can afford it.

If the new age strategy fails however:
With the kind of dough the company and the executives are pulling down,

It'll be time to inflate the rat.

I have never understood why an employee can't standby for an upgrade, in seniority order, when traveling on a purchased ticket. It would cost the company nothing.

I have a slightly different situation. Trying to nonrev my wife and daughter between nonhub cities. I've got a primary route via SLC, secondary via MSP, and tertiary via either DTW or ATL. Can I list them for all the options in advance since I will not be with them to make things happen in real time when flights start filling up?

In addition, they don't fly much and I plan to use their S2 privileges since they'd just lose then anyway. Is it correct that if they use it for one leg then they get it for all legs on that calendar day?

Thanks

The 4/8/3/3 was a rumor that turned out to be dead on. If I recall you were initially adamantly against it and said it would never pass. Then you voted for it.
