Most certainly not. The narrow swept back wing really improves the glide ratio over the cheap wings that gliders have.

That's not the Air Force, it's HD airlines (slogan - "We're cheaper than BluRay"). But it doesn't matter. They retired all the KC-111s. Now they're flying Airbus 316s. They don't carry nearly as much as a 318, but they share the same flight control system.

What was that 727 joke? It's a safe plane. It climbs like a safe, descends like a safe and lands like a safe. :D

And on the homefront....

Implications Of A United Airlines A380 Superjumbo Order - United Continental Holdings, Inc (NYSE:UAL) | Seeking Alpha

It will never happen at Delta. Remember, "the 777 doesn't really fit well within our system." So an aircraft twice as big with twice as many engines ...

Deep Thoughts...by DW...

Why is it that we hear trumpeted that Mother has a 15% premium on ticket prices over fellow competitors...but we can't expect that on employee compensation? (If someone says thats the profit sharing piece...then why would we reduce our piece of the pie?)

Timbo 06-02-2015 05:40 AM

I believe Richard also said that nobody who is operating the A380 is making money with it, not even Emirates, who is asking Airbus to put new engines on it.

DogWhisperer 06-02-2015 05:50 AM

Did see an article about a year ago stating that there were only two airlines operating it at a break even to profit...Lufthansas and one other... Did see that this article said that Airbus was GIVING UAL two to try...I guess somewhat like a free lease...

Unless you're killing enemy ground troops, there is simply no reason to fly an ugly airplane. The A380 just needs to go away.
