I'm thinking public bus/train? I've also heard tale of a FA shuttle.

You can do the Q-runner if it's not full of F/A's. They have priority.

So, i am at a loss and maybe someone can help me get some SA back. I am on reserve, and just got assigned a 3-day trip that was originally an ATL trip. However there was another guy on the list that is senior to me but, he is in group 1 whilst i am in group 2. He has 5 days avail and i have 16. why would i get the trip and not him?
i try and read the PWA and its like a foreign language. i promise have tried to read section 23 N & O. The follow on question is.... can i call scheduling and politly say i am new and stupid and to please edumacate me without ****ing anyone off and getting fired before i get off probation? i just don't really get how they award reserve and I am too stupid to understand the PWA. Thanks Dudes!

There is no problem calling Skeds. If you are uncomfortable doing that call 1 800 USA ALPA. Ask for the scheduling guys. They are short handed as one of them sadly just lost his wife but if you leave a message should get back to you quickly. The have the exact same computer access as crew scheduling and can quickly confirm the coverage.
I suspect you will find the other pilot was not legal for one reason or another. He may have had a 30 hr off in 7 issue or 100 in 28 ect...

Not the Q Runner, that's different. You
want the Crew Runner (F/A Golden Touch van). You can find the current schedule on Dnet / IFS / NYC / Crew Runner. Runs twice a day from Kew Gardens to EWR with stops at LGA and a downtown hotel.

Easiest/best value is to get on E train to NY (NJ station with same name) Union station ($2.50?) then take NJ train to EWR ($12.00?), save your NJ train ticket and ride the AirTrain to the airport for free (normal ticket is $5).

The LIRR from Kew to NY Penn Station, then the NJ Transit train to Newark.

Also check short call. He may be on short call and you aren't. Lots of possible reasons. Just call crew scheds, they won't have a problem telling you why.

LIRR will not help him at all from LGA only from JFK to EWR via Penn Station.

Here is the answer he is looking for in absence of the FA's crew runner.

From LGA: Q70 bus to Jackson Heights station (it's the only stop and takes approx 15 mins). From Jackson Heights take the E train to 34th Street (Penn Station) which takes about 30 mins. Once in Penn Station take the NJ Transit to EWR. 1.5 hrs is sufficient to make the trip and it is very easy.

Time wise the travel time is the same whether you use the crew runner or public transportation.
