CDG... the gate agents DO NOT board using your seniority. They board whomever they want, in whatever order they want, in whatever seat they want. I've seen it all there. The AF/KLM computer system doesn't talk to ours so you won't have any way to see where you are on 'the list'. They are famous for schmoozing their own colleagues or AF ticketed passengers into business or comfort plus while you get jammed into coach. I don't know what the work around for that is, but you could ask to see the departure report from the purser. Even that is produced by AF, so it's not exactly like ours... Well, bonne chance!

757-300, 220+ people on board, pull into gate and shut down the APU ASAP even if they don't have air on board the jet yet. Oh yeah! Great idea! Awesome! Save gas! Screw passengers, they didn't pay for comfort. Well, maybe we care about comfort, 'like how's the ride?' 20x in flight and dammit you better get up and tell them goodbye in case they fill out a survey, but as far as AC, let em burn.
Not just 757. Had crews doing that out west on the 717 and this week on an 88 when I was deadheading.
I don't get it. Why? Why why why why, WHY?

Isn't it for the same reason air doesn't get hooked up? Everyone knows the cabin stays nice and comfy when it's cool outside, right?

I know there are no guarantees in this business but as it stands now:
1. What kind of medical benefits do you get in retirement?
2. How long do you have to work at Delta to receive flight benefits in retirement?

How hard is that? My pax always enjoy a comfortable airplane. AND I think DAL is on board with that, as unlike earlier cheapskate eras we actually realize that spending more resources on a great product results in revenue premiums far outpacing the costs. Why some pilots can't figure that one out is one of the enduring mysteries of this place.

1. Very expensive
2. Fight benefits as a retiree are basically worthless unless you have
3 days to get somewhere.
You are correct! I am so glad to finally be in the left seat and set an upbeat, relaxed tone. My standard brief is "after shut down at the gate we run the packs off the APU, and the APU doesn't come OFF until the external air is connected and confirmed ON."
