Productive trips (1030 CR in 24 hours) and easy for a west coast guy because of the minimal body clock hit. The mid rotation red eyes and the red eyes the NYC and ATL guys have are what sucks...landing and finishing a trip on a red eye, no thanks! I think it's very base specific. I don't mind LAX red eyes since most red eye rotations start with them and you get it out of the way early.
Ok, so how do we get the ones that suck taken off the bids and leave the ones people want?

As long as we're *****in' how about getting rid of day trips in NYC -- you know, the base where 85% of pilots commute.

Bid what you want, want what you bid. Seniority is everything.

I hate to say it, but the company is making lots of money on red eyes, especially from LAX. Have you ever seen LAX terminal 5 from 9pm to midnight? Easily rivals Atlanta at peak time of day, there are pax everywhere! I'm not saying I love them, but I don't mind them once in a while. I guess it's easier when you start a west coast trip with a red eye versus east coast guys ending a trip with one. We fly them to thin markets to...IND, CMH, CVG, RDU etc and they are mostly/all full. SWA is losing money compared to delta on these routes since they don't fly red eyes (at least not yet). I am pretty sure LAX 73N has the highest percentage of domestic red eyes system wide, so when guys from other bases talk about them I take it with a grain of salt.

No way man, there are easily enough locals to do the vast majority of them(myself included, 1 night in a hotel in months!). Besides, there only about 15% turns on avg in most categories anyway in NYC.....on the 88 it seems pretty rare for guys to do them if they don't want to, at least in large numbers.

Very true. I'll be on reserve in a few months and am hoping on it.

Beat this one. Maids knocking in the halls at 9am in PDX, JFK and SEA. Earplugs, eye shades and all that. I felt worse when I got home than any mission i ever flew on the C-5 or any international trip in my short 3 years on the ER in NY and LA.

At least you don't have to go to the armory to drop off or pick up the weapons, or do the bag drag with everyone's hibachi pots and pachinko machines

So, can you place an asterisk or bold face the sections where, per 117 your rest was interrupted and you called in fatigued?

Swap with the pot question. Trading a 4 day that is over the same days as another 4 day. Catch is that the trip I am swapping for is only technically a 4 day because the block in is just before 2400 on day 3 and release is therefore after midnight. ICrew therefore displays it as a 4 day. Will that swap be subject to coverage or is it viewed as a day for day swap?
