I should have prefaced it that I missed the IA call. I would have missed the GS call as well. I was just wondering why it even went to IA if I was available for a GS.

The trip that there were trying to cover with an IA was probably created as a GS prior to 5:30pm. If that was the case, when the GS was created you didn't have a GS entered and the would never call you until they get to the end on the GS list and they then try to cover was an IA.

OR...you could stay home this weekend, celebrate the 4th, and enjoy your time off. Oh, you'd be helping our negotiators at the table as well.

Call scheduling. There really are humans who work there in Atlanta on the 4th Floor. Trip might have violated rest/FDP/Part 117 somehow? Scheduling will be able to tell you.

We are our own worst enemies.

Default WS in good reserve coverage

I am fairly new here, bouncing between reserve and line. I get not picking up extra when manning is tight to help negotiations, but if there is good reserve coverage, doesn't it help the pilots as a group if line holders WS? Then they get extra $ (admittedly with qol trade)and the reserve gets to stay home and get paid same amount. If the lineholders don't WS, the reserve goes to work at no extra pay. GS is not a player in this case because the reserve coverage is there.

I get it that the company might adjust their expected extra flying figures and hire less for a whole (

I get it that the company might adjust their expected extra flying figures and hire less for a while (maybe), but if we only do this when there is good coverage it should self correct. I am ATL 7ERB, just thinking out loud. Let me know what I'm missing.

There is never good coverage and with ALVs at 84 and lines that can be built to 91:30, not many day left to fly especially at WS wage. Not a big fan of the pick-up WS because of the chance you may have gotten a GS that you will never know.

Now if they built you a line of 65hours, enjoy your time off or pick up that WS to make up the difference.

WS with good coverage ok.
Last-minute WS with no one on short call, not so much.
