Yes, but..

If you drop the trip, it goes into open time and someone senior could pick it up.

The most efficient way is to drop the trip as you are getting close to a GS, and use only a single PB, then rinse repeat. I had 4 PB days this summer. They helped put me in position to get 3 GS.

Can you clarify? I was under the impression that if you had multiple PB days then CS would use all available PB days to cover a dropped trip. Unless of course you would get 1 PB day, use it, GS, then get another.

Not exactly. On reserve if you PD you lose the pro-rated guarantee credit for the day (unless you are already over the monthly guarantee). If you were over the guarantee you would "be full" and wouldn't have to use the PB day. If you use a PB day, you don't lose any pay for not being available for that day.

But if you're already on a Max Credit Line (let's say your personal Max Pick-up is only 8-9 hours, you won't be able to WS that same trip that you just dropped using the PB days. You're only chance to make extra coin would be through a GS (if you're senior) or the Swap Board (if you're junior.)

We weren't comparing PD days to PB days. We were comparing PB days on a reserve day vs a regular trip vs getting turned into supplemental vacation. What I said was exactly true.

23.S.16. you can use them individually.

tunes 09-16-2016 09:36 AM

so for example, I have 3 PB days, I'm a line holder, and I have a 21 hour 4 day trip on my schedule, my max P/U is 12.40, Because the trip is worth 21 hours I can't drop it and WS it back? I'd love to use one PB day to drop it and use the PB day on the day that's 8 hours of credit then WS it back to get 8 hours of pay for my PB day...but I'm guessing that's not possible?

I Could not find in our contract what the little systems thumb drive thingy pays after we complete it. Any ideas ? 0, 3.30, 5 hours ?

I know what you were comparing and agree PB is more valuable on a line than reserve. You missed the point I was clarifying. You are not working less for the same money as I quoted you saying when you choose between PD or PB on reserve. You are not losing the pro rated credit on reserve for dropping the reserve day when you use a PB day instead of a PD day. If you PD a reserve day, you are working less for less which adds to the value of a PB on reserve. PB day is definitely worth more than vacation day and is more beneficial when bidding a line.

We're probably saying the same thing but using different semantics with the "work less for the same money."
