2 md90s inbound to lga diverted today due to not having RNAV capability. 1 diverted to jfk the other one to bwi.

Ok, I'll plead ignorance. Why did they divert? No ILS available at LGA? Everything I've read from the company has said the 90s are RNAV capable thus why they'll be around after the 88 is gone.
What gives this time?

Maybe he'll take a walk a few blocks from the hotel...
I can't speak specifically to this incident, but even on the 717 I once had to divert going in to MDW. Due to flow with ORD they were only doing RNAV RNP approaches and the 717 isn't certified for RNP. No issue with the WX or ILS, we just could get a legal approach approved. Probably a similar issue going into LGA on the 'dog.

Wether the MD90's that do have GPS (which is not all of them) are FAA certified for RNAV GPS approaches or not I am not sure. I can tell you the pilots are not trained to FAA requirements to shoot them. Current round of recurrent introduces RNAV approaches. I got my training in an 88 sim, so not the right FMS, no GPS, the pages and buttons not right, but we played just pretend....

Anyone notice the fueler's name on the FSR in the latest FOM revision?
