Domestic got the shaft, WRT 117.

That shouldn't apply, either (domestic). Are you in an international category?

117 makes no distinction between domestic and flag.

So the 8 international vs 9 domestic is contractual? If so there's another fix for our next contract. 8+ hours on a NB with 2 plane changes and likely a 2+ hour sit in ATL as secret-ultra-uber short call is enough to make me want to sleep 12 hours on that 11 hour layover.

Our contract however does.

23.S.9. For international, you have to meet minimum separation rules. Otherwise, a "PD request will be granted if, at the time of processing, reserve availability is sufficient."

Is this the correct reference. 23.S.9 does not seem to cover this topic.

Question. Does a short call pilot have any recourse to refuse a malaria destination assignment if they have not been given the recommended time to take anti malaria medicine.

Thanks in advance. The only contractual references I could find was 23K recovery flying.

You don’t, The CDC says if you start Malerone just before the flight you should be fine. Personally I would not take it. It’s a very powerful drug with side effects. I would wear the proper clothing, avoid being outside at sunset and bath in deet.
