I'm senior enough in my category to hold a lot of LCA trips, however, I don't prioritize that when bidding. That being said, I stumble into a couple of them a year. Have yet to be called the night prior to be released. Not going to look a gift horse in the mouth, but as a commuter it would be nice......
Well, I've never called the LCA as I don't want to bother him/her on their days off. I have called crew scheduling and have never had success. I was just adding a data point to what the poster said that I quoted. What he/she stated made it sound like a guarantee that you would be released NLT 7pm the night prior.

Thanks for the info
I've had two rotations as an OE student where the displaced F/O found out when he showed up at the gate only to get sent home. Only twice, so very low percentage i'm sure, but it can happen.

I used to always bid LCA trips. I was called between1830 and 2000, 90% of the time. 9.5% of the time I just checked and acknowledged my schedule. The other 0.5% I had to report and then got released, but that was always during IROPs. Especially IT induced IROPs....

.5% indicates at least 200 trip buys, or roughly 4-5 years of getting paid to not fly.
