FOM Chapter 26, Section 4.
The funny thing about that in JFK is that it can still say scheduled time on the board but the gate computer is 5 minutes off of that. So you can come up at 15 prior to scheduled departure time, the time on the board, and they could have already given your jumpseat away. When you point out that it's not 15 prior to scheduled departure the gate agent will show you their countdown clock on their screen which is 5 minutes off, and the only clock that really counts, and it is showing a red 10 minutes which means they need to shut the jetway door.

Moral of the story try not to make it close.

What responsibility (if any) does the company have to attempt to cover a trip by other means before flying me into an X day?

You need to provide a lot more info. Is this a reroute. Is it a initial trip assignment?

Trip coverage ladder. Reroute is step 22, long call RES into an XX day is 23, and short call RES pilot into an XX day is 24. ALPA can check if they followed the ladder, either way you must fly now/grieve later. Could result in assignment pay and reroute pay.

break break

I was on LC today and was passed for a GS. I thought that 23.O.12 would apply, but ALPA tells me that is a carry-over relic of the contract that was not properly updated when FAR 117 was published. According to ALPA the only GS a LC pilot can get under that provision is one that reports between 10 and 12 hours from the assignment. He sounded very confident in his answer but it's most definitely not what the contract states. Can anybody verify that FAR117 has a provision that trumps this part of the contract?

I was on long call and received a one day trip on my last on call day before an X day. When I signed in, I saw that the flight is already delayed 4 hours, and the return leg will land after midnight on my X day.

Yes, they can do that. It’s a delayed flight. If it arrives back after 2AM you are due a additional 5:15 for the trip. Yo may also be due compensation for the violated X day. I am sure some of the reserves on here can provide more detail.

0130 block in is the trigger, not 0200, just to be clear. Had that happen twice in the last 6 months.
