Look for ATL to get the new nonstop to Mumbai and at least one other international route next year!

What other new route?

No idea, I am sure however the back office deal included something else. Perhaps a moving a route from DTW or JFK.

How are you sure?

They don't even know if BOM will be flown from JFK or ATL yet.

I guess you miss the point of the original post. Business gets done in many ways. When Mumbai was announced they said we don’t know where it will fly from. That’s highly unusual for a new route announcement. To translate that announcement to Georgia speak it meant, Drop the fuel tax if you want any hope of new international routes.

I heard almost those exact words from a Sr. Delta manager when he was on our flight a few months ago. He wanted Atlanta airport to fight for it.

Why would the State care about more international routes?

Bragging rights.

It also drives more traffic through the airport so they get more money in fees etc and the flights are major drivers in a number of major corporate organizations having a large presence there.

I have a friend who is a higher up in OCC. He said BOM will be served from JFK.

Did he say whether 777 or 350? Could make a difference on next AE's preference. 😀
