Default Out of base white slip

Is there some unwritten rule that says you should not out of base white slip since you are essentially white slipping a trip that would otherwise go out on a green slip?

I mentioned doing an out of base white slip to someone and he told me I would really **** off the pilots from that base. That surprised me.

What do others think?

Thanks

1) contract allows for it so fair game.

2) generally speaking if there are more guys on reserve than trips in OT for that day, then that trip was going to get assigned to a reserve guy for straight pay anyway, so no one in base missed out on a GS.

What policy is that? That 26" bags are not allowed to be carried on?

I've DH'ed quite a bit the last few years in 717ville -- never had an issue.

nobody has seemed to care as a NYC guy on reserve the last few months, several of us constantly flying uncovered DTW, MSP and ATL A320A spots. So Id agree...do your thing.

I've been told you can't have anything in the side pockets when you insert the bag into the storage space behind the CA's seat.

I've seen a very high number of FA's publicly try and shame pilots with 26" bags. They'll tell you to put it wheels first, and when you say it can't, they'll say just try it, and you'll say it can't, and they'll say just try it again, and you try it and it doesn't work. By then there's a dozen pax who were anxiously watching the situation and not only know you're a non compliant rule breaker but that your special bag is interferring in their overhead room.

We either need to board first (DH, especially in uniform) or we need an approved (and reliable) gate check sysyem for crew bags. That's possible and would only be a quick paperwork change in procedures. The current "people's" system of boarding doesn't benefit anyone now. Its way better to DH on an RJ than on a mainline the way it is now.

I really couldn't care less about public shaming.

I agree I would much rather DH on a 70-90 seater and pink tag.

Can't find anywhere in the FOM that prohibits us from DH'ing with a 26" bag. As far as FA's, have you seen what they bring back from Europe when they nonrev home?

Why shouldn’t reserves be used to cover flying throughout the system? No base “owns” any flying.
