Wow, ok so at least premium pay thanks for the feedback it’s hard to keep track of everything now

In that situation are you still in the normal callout ladder or are you only used in a last resort due to the premium pay?

It’s step 10 in the coverage ladder.

I haven't been following deadhead stuff lately but now I'm getting a lot of them. Is there a way not to get stuck in basic all the time?

Well our deadhead tickets are basic economy coded for domestic trips. So no. However the earlier you list for the trip the better chance you have of picking a “better” seat. At 24 hours out you can pick anything available up through Economy Comfort as long as there are seats available for sale.

However if it shows the whole flight is oversold but seats are available in Economy Comfort you can’t pick those seats which is ridiculous.

Hope that helps some. Enjoy the middle seat that doesn’t recline with a 400lb person on either side. :)

If it’s not a short notice trip you can list 14 days in advance. I usually grab an exit row seat at that time. Comfort plus is 24 hours in advance but those have been few and far between for me lately. Not to mention the “known” IT anamoly that has been preventing comfort plus selection in the last week or so.

At exactly 23 hours 59 minutes 59 seconds before your scheduled departure go onto delta.com with your confirmation number and see if there are any better seats that were just released. It’s BS but that’s what you have to do. If there aren’t any, keep checking back every couple hours but don’t get your hopes up.

Lately every deadhead I do I initially get assigned a middle seat. When I check delta.com out side of 24 hours guess what..........only middle seats available...but inside 24 hours is another thing.

I've had luck improving my seat via the Delta app between roughly 55 and 35 minutes prior to departure. Once the gate agent seat shuffling has commenced but before app changes are locked out, you can sometimes grab something farther forward and/or an isle/window.
