Was wondering the same thing. Heard them on freq saying it was nothing big but they needed to return. They were on the ground for an hour and a half before they got back on their way.

I know - I think I fumbled it a bit when I replied. My point was that we like the A330neo more than the A350, as evident from the orders your cited.

Latest rumor is that we are getting rid of the 350's and buying more 777's.

More noise or is there any weight to it?

You'll find this hard to believe, but a 777 line pilot buddy of mine.

But he was very confident when he was telling me.

I know mgmt wants to have a common airframe for ULH. Wether it’s the 777 or 350 remains to be seen I guess......

FWIW...a buddy who is a 777 APD told me they were recently informed there will be no more initial qual students on the 777 after 2024......

Probably get rid of both and buy 787's.... that would be the only logical airline mgmt decision.

That doesn’t make any sense...”Hey, by the way, 5 years from now I wouldn’t expect any more IQ students...”. We can’t even get tomorrow nailed down and APD’s are chatting about 5 years from now?

They are putting a massive amount of money into the 777 fleet. Seems unlikely they would do that if they plan on retiring them.
