Thanks for the reminder. I'm learning from your mistake. The company provided Malarone I keep on hand as an international pilot for Delta Air Lines is probably expired. I'd hate to be unprepared for my next reserve obligation.

We have arguably one of the best jobs in aviation — in the world.

Some people will wake up every morning and curse the sun for being too bright.

Personally, I pinch myself everyday — and that’s no lie.

Well of course they do. The free beer doesn't stay cold long enough, which means the pretty girl serving them has to come by more often. It ruins every good day at the pool. Dang bright 🌞 sun.

It is still a good job but every contract it gets a little worse. All the "good deals" have gradually been removed over the years. Now the only good deal is the lca trip buys that apply to FO's, only, and I'm sure they will take that one away too. Lost pensions, pay compared to inflation, vacations touching trips, scope concessions, and sick leave changes are just a few items that have changed over the years.

Even LCA trip buys have been eroded as we are forced to actually show for the trip before being released more and more now.

Our own fault for not have definitive language on when we would be released. It sucks that we sometimes have to show up to be released, but it's still a dang good deal. I know there has been an uptick in people saying they've had to show up, but I'm guessing a vast majority of the time people are still being released the night prior.

Rant over. and hoping I didn't get malaria.
I have buds at FedEx that wish they were at Delta. They will be first by a long shot to go single pilot. I've been at another legacy and their reserve rules were horrible compared to Delta. Just be happy man. If you hate the ER, bid the 73, 220 or 320 and you would have really decent seniority.

If my memory serves me correct FedEx kept their 727’s and engineers 10 years longer than Delta. While anything is possible in this industry, history doesn’t prove that theory.

Or he can stay in the ER, Bid reserve and do roll Thunder during the summer, then when staffing starts to pick up he’ll be senior. It’s going to be a very lucrative summer for the ones qualified.
