Do you know how many (if any) are in storage in the desert? I would rather we pull some 757's out than buy more 320's.

The part that I sympathize with is for those in ATL and other bases that are looking at a move but have no idea of what the future holds. This is just the first chess pieces being moved and you don't have any info to base a family lifestyle change decision on. Do you move the whole family only to have another AE come out in 6-8 months with openings back in <insert base>. I feel for all ya'all.

Your are on 765 NYC and you get called out to do JFK-SFO-JFK....you get only 12 hrs of notice.

International guys know this better then me but:
The international cat. people when on resv are on resv for 24hr periods. During the first 12hrs of that period they can be called out for a domestic trip...if said trip was put into the international bid packet at the beginning of the month.....and even then they could be called for a domestic trip if other requirements are met per the contract....clear as mud?
After the first 12hrs of your call window the only thing you could be called for is international as the domestic reg. window (whitlow) has come and gone....

SC is able to report in reasonable time. (ATL, DTW 2 hrs~) available no matter what the length of the trip. On the 777 you could be in your 23rd hr of SC and get called out to go to DXB which is 15 hrs. You are legal.

LC give you at least a 12 hr notice prior to the trip. There are some constraints with ULH, but the computer deals with it.

On Domestic trip they can only give you a domestic trip like you state in teh first 12 hrs that will comply with Whitlow and be dutied out at the outstation within 16 hrs from the start of the SC period.

We have about 40-50 767/757's in the desert. They are at Pinion Airpark NW of TUS and VCV. We will bring them out as needed, but will not truly start until later in 2010. Hence the reason for a early summer 2010 bid. I would expect to see bids every three to six months for the next two years. Hold on to your hat it is getting windy!

No, people are confusing your original question with short call.

If you are on long call, you have a 12 hour call-out window, regardless if it's an international or domestic flight. So if your JFK-MAD leaves at 1930, they can call you no later than 0600 to give you the trip (for international, they need to give you 1:30 for sign in). For JFK-SFO at 1930, they can't call you later than 0630 (domestic only requires 1 hour for sing in).

If they convert you to short call, your short call availability window is 12 hours for domestic or 24 hours for international. The reason for this is that Whitlow applies to domestic flying but not international.

Does that make sense?

 

I'm trying to figure out what exactly this means when there are vacancies and surpluses posted. I think I know the answer, but reading the contract, it's not entirely clear.

So, here's the deal...I was MD'd off the 7ERB ATL effective this month, so I have reinstatement rights. There is a vacancy of 35 7ERB on this AE. BUT there are 221 ATL 765B and 767B surpluses on this bid as well. So if they run the AE and less than 35 people with reinstatement rights senior to me request to be reinstated, that would allow me to be reinstated. After they do this step, I assume they now start the displacements of the other categories, flushing the people that just got reinstated to the 7ER back off the airplane? So, in reality, my reinstatement rights probably mean next to nothing with so many people getting bumped off the 765 and the 767, right?

I am hoping I am wrong, but I assume I am right and will probably be bumped completely out of ATL as well. Speaking of which, which other base is the easiest to commute to out of ATL?
