I totally understand. I think that many of the pilots were a time in your position. I know I was.

I don't think it would leave the 88B in NYC short. I'm new to all this, but the number of 88B in NYC on reserve equates to 70% of the manning of 88B line holders there. In ATL it's only 17%. Opening a partial bid to allow some movement, say 15~20 FOs to move, would be good for the company and the pilots. That being said, I understand they're working on the AE and would prefer to put it all out at once, and putting out an AE to accommodate some FOs in NYC isn't worth the trouble when they can just DH them. But when you see it continually delayed you can't help but be frustrated (and a little lighter in the wallet from paying for a crashpad).

I'll eat a little crow here--leadership is providing updates on the status of the AE. Just listened to the Code A Phone from Friday., Oct 24. My best paraphrasing of it:
"Our Crew Resources has intended to post an Advance Entitlement bid for the last couple of weeks, but we've had to pull that back because the schedule has been tweaked a little bit more for early next year and we need to complete further analysis. This analysis includes contingency planning for the merger and some differing economic assumptions. While we would like to post an entitlement soon, and I certainly anticipate that we will within the next several days, we want to be certain that we consider all of our options. I appreciate your patience." |
Exactly. No reason to sit there are have bodies coming in the door when we do not have airplanes to put them in. (777's and 737's) These jets are going to be over two months late. That puts them online mid next year at the earliest.
This and a few other things that are being worked out. I would not be surprised to see some displacements. |

I think you can probably understand why NWA guys see giving up monthly advance awards as a concession. Nice to be able to have a contractual item that you can use to hold the company's feet to the fire. Yeah, maybe the monthly APA isn't always a groundshaking event, but at least you know when its coming.
Especially transferring around bases on the same aircraft/position should be done fast and easy. |

Come from the 767B and go to the m88 B, if there needed to be any. It was just an idea that was floated around. Nothing official.

Just to add false hope, delaying the AE may not be a bad thing either :)

Boeing strike might be over, a TA was reached. We'll see what happens with the AE in the coming days.
