MAC charters are a good deal if you hold a line (and flew MAC for a career in the USAF). Not so much while on reserve. They'll craft some nice rotations for you if you're a line holder.

Exactly. I love em, but only do em as a line holder.

The MD's would have been worse if they did not keep ppl in ATL. A pessimist would state that it looks like we are setting up for furloughs, but that is not the case.
Just said it and refuted the glass half empty guys to get around it.

Now some of you with time on your hands needs to figure out how many positions went unfilled. FtB?

Guys,
It sucks to get bumped and hopefully the movement will turn around soon, but this is not unique - a lot of guys have had the crap MDed out of them in the last 9 years.

By the use of your smiley face I can see you are taking this with a good attitude - don't worry it will get better, and a crappy commute will really, really make you appreciate the ability to drive to work in the future. :)
Good luck getting back to your base.

Scoop

Met the most junior pilot of our company, aka the ultimate plug, and he has the attitude that's epitome of looking at things "half glass full". We need more guys like him.

Hey this is just an opportunity to see some different flying without a seat lock. I am looking forward to the new opportunity but will take me reinstatement if and when I get it.

So ACL, when's the next MOAB coming out :D

acl65pilot 01-01-2010 03:03 PM

Planned for May. It will have some "interesting" things on it too!

ATL Chief Pilot is in the "A" lounge right now answering questions about the near and long term plans, the bid etc. ...oh and handing out turkey sandwiches! I apologize if some of this is old news.

--More block time coming to ATL in the next year or two so for you displaced types, consider temporarily commuting (a choice that's been a source self-loathing and guilt in my own life) and wait on upcoming AE bids to get back to the promised land (not my words).

--Some block time from recently purchased (12) MD-90s (how'd I miss this lot of 12?) will return to the ATL base by '11.

--Expect new AE bid in June--training dept is at capacity 'til then. Many more bids to follow to realign fleet.

--I got the impression the CVG 7ER category will be given a little more time to improve but...

--ATL 777 flying will see significant growth over the next few years.

--Delta taking hard line approach with Boeing--787 delays means we're owed money or some other consideration in lieu of cash. Future new aircraft purchases will see Delta giving equal consideration to Airbus.

--Those of you that commute should be ashamed of yourselves
