I guess you haven't coordinated these statements with the former NWA ALPA. While furloughing, they negotiated for the heavy drivers pick up additional flying and sent a message to the masses that flying overtime (x 1.5 pay over 80) does NOT effect staffing. Not aiming at you ACL, just reminding some redtailers what ALPA did for the furloughed brothers. After all, they wanted to ensure the furloughed guys had well paying jobs to return to.

I usually appreciate what you say ACL, but if these prognistications come to fruition.. ANY of them, we will never get a raise, so let's just disband the "union" and go to a Jetblue style relationship with management. Can't strike... can't get any meaningful improvements because of management mistakes and blunders from the past yada yada yada. The thing that I find somewhat amusing as of late is the eerily similarity to our current situation and the obama stimulus plan. Example: we are offering JAl somewhere north of a lot of money (while still operating in the red ourselves). JAL now says thanks but no thanks. So... instead of plowing that money back into OUR company where it belongs... we are still too poor to do that.. Where does it go? Now.. there are no raises.. minimal improvements.. same ol same ol. Tell me this Nostradomus... will this cycle ever end? I think not. I think I have said this before, but I found an old alpa rag from 1991, and the title on it was "Restoring the Profession" talk amongst yourselves...
Kind of slapping you own face when you get ****ed as someone. Makes sense to me.
I want you want, but we need to stack the deck in our favor. To do part of that the business needs to thrive or at least survive.

An old argument.. again.. and you will hear the same high warble here when/if we furlough again. No greenslip flying with guys on furlough... all the while junior guys answer the phone at 3am to take that assignment... the only way to make this willing self-abrogation of seniority work is to make assignments and greenslips pay straight pay when guys are on furlough. IF that ever happens, invest heavily in the company that makes Smart Ring... you'll make a bundle
Maybe in addition, there should be a hard cap of flying (say 75 hrs) that absolutely can not be violated with guys on furlough with an enforceable repercussion--pay each furloughee $1000 for every hour flown above 75 by any pilot (cumulative for every pilot company wide). This would force the company to keep individual pilot's greed in check.

Maybe in addition, there should be a hard cap of flying (say 75 hrs) that absolutely can not be violated with guys on furlough with an enforceable repercussion--pay each furloughee $1000 for every hour flown above 75 by any pilot (cumulative for every pilot company wide). But the second... How can we ever stack it in our favor. management ALWAYS has the capability to cry poor, and threaten us with bankruptcy, and they ALWAYS have the option to just wait us out. Hint: No strike... I just can't understand how we can ever truly claim any kind of victory under these conditions. If Prater weren't so gutless, maybe this would change... but I'm not holding my breath. BTW.. I think secretaries at alpa national make more than you do....

Uh.. I don't like the use of the word greed here. If trying to make as much money as one can within the bounds of the contract afforded him is greed, then I need a new dictionary. As far as the $1000 fine (face it.. that is what it is).. uh.. no. flame away.

Millions will go to Delta execs this year
Hundreds of Millions offered to JAL
Millions spent purchasing hundreds of RJ's to OUTSOURCE our jobs since BK.
Bottom line is that most Delta pilots feel that is some low hanging fruit to be had.

The other way to handle the green slip with furlough situation is to make green slips pay quadruple if any pilot is on furlough.
That would make them bring guys back just as quickly.

In any case I think it should be looked at in detail by the union but my guess is that they have already looked at it or decided against it.
