If I recall 80 was 25,maybe 26 by a few days when he went to class in 07.

Tsquare, I feel your pain. Bama went through this a few years ago. Wait till your brand new high profile coaching hire blows a few thousand on strippers and hookers in his hotel room on the Universities' dime. Then you'll be in the big leagues like Alabama!:D
On the bright side, after going through the valley of death, we got Saban. |

A guy in my new hire class was 27. He still does AF reserves too. Talk about rolling in the dough when he is 60. Or he will be a ward of the State like the rest of us...
On the bright side, at least we know we've got 80 to run the latest and greatest show for the next 30+ years ;) |
DAL4 and FmrDog,
Congrats to you both (great pic DAL4). I wish you happiness and good health to all! I am in the process of backing up all our videos of the kiddo's (triplet's) and it seems like just yesterday. |

I had just turned 27 the week before I started class and I was the second youngest in class. There's only 15 people senior to me that are younger than me so hopefully those guys love greasy double cheeseburgers more than me ;).

Might not be rolling in it so much. If he's 27 and in the Reserves, he sure didn't come off AD. I did 8 years AD, then 15 in Reserves, but 90% of my retirement points were earned in those first 8. The Guard/Reserve guys who never did AD usually figure out around the 10-12 year point how small the retirement check will be, that they won't see it until 60, and that if they get activated for a couple years will never make up the loss of income. That's when they punch. And that's also about the point you don't fly much, just get fitted for a large steel desk. Side note in the "insult to injury" zone: Most Guard/Res guys are clueless that their "inactive duty" points are capped each year. Pay only, no point towards retirement. I retired with over 3 years worth of points that didn't count. |
Wow I feel like such a slacker around all these Doogie Howser types!

/29 in April and no major hiring in sight.... Don't feel so bad. I think the average age for a new hire at a major is almost 40. (at least that's what Kit Darby said, several years ago.) It is not a competition. Hang in there and good luck! |
