Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
Beer has got you all beat. He and his wife flew ATL-LAS, didn't even bother getting a hotel as they gambled and partied through the night with no hotel, then took a flight the next morning to SLC to ski all day, stayed the night and then skied and flew home the next day.
My wife would never ever allow that.

I had a trainwreck experience trying to get a gate at LAX. They'd been using the gate as a storage space & it took forever to pull in. After we set the brakes, we waited fifteen minutes for a jetway driver, using all the available local tools to get some action.
Finally, the captain called the OCC duty pilot. The LAX supervisor was at the jetway controls in no time.

I've also had luck just requesting the AWAB via 88/runway input. If course by then the Captain has requested a copy and the Company has sent a copy too. It is amusing watching the Captain answer the Rampers and the Flight Attendants calling "you want us?" every time the ACARS gives the same chime que everything else on the airplane gives.

My wife is the definition of the word Trooper!!! It was a great weekend gambling and skiing. She is pretty much perfect. Except that time she had sex with the bartender on the cruise ship!!!! Sorry...I had to throw out a quote from "Hangover." I love that movie!!!!
Guys,
Two discussions going on (at least): only the second is worth it. As for the first, I found the "Ignore" feature under CP User > Buddy/Ignore List.

Keenster,
Sorry, I was a little turned off by the large caps. I hate yelling on forums. A couple of points about "best practices":
1) DAL's way isn't the best way. It's just the way it's being done right now.
2) There is not a pilot that sees a new procedure, and adapts without comment. It's only normal that changing an entire way of doing things would entail a lot of comments. We should be more patient and understanding as you get used to the new system.
3) 2 doesn't negate 1.
4) 3 doesn't mean the system as a whole can't be improved. You guys have brought up some very valid points. For example, there are a number of IT issues that I think are awful, but really never second-guessed. Until now. Thanks.
5) 4 doesn't mean it should happen today. North guys like to say they know what's best because they have compared. Good for you. And sure enough, I'm sure a North and South guy, living under one system, will agree on a best practice. But just as you can't accept the notion Delta's practice is the best possible, we (sorry) can't agree that you're the new instant experts on both sides of the fence. Let's work together, then we'll talk.
6) Luckily, that's exactly what's happening. The company didn't pick the ultimate best procedures, they picked the fastest way to SOC. They are interested in improving (with their resources) the system. The union is systematically talking about how to make sure the company doesn't go for a "middle ground" that "accidentally" hurts the pilots. This will be worked out, with your input, and mine.
7) There are a number things I want the company to do, in the course of improving business practices, but my focus isn't on changing company procedures. I want compensation, and I want QOL. Any effort applied to the procedure side of the equation is an effort not applied on my wallet. I hope we ultimately craft a (much) better contract for ourselves, and (as a secondary consideration) operate according to the best practices available, in the safest, most comfortable environment possible.
Sincerely,
"Sink r8"

Thanks for the rational reply. I agree with most all of your points. I only hope that in the future thing get better for all of us and realize that things were done for the benefit of soc. All I was commenting on was the "shutt off of ours ideas and input "which might be better for every one concerned. I know that it will take time. I just do not apreciate the move on attitide and accept things as they are. Just because DAL way is all your guys know and that is the only way seems to be pretty closed minded to me. That does not apply to all you guys-- only the ones making those kind of statements. My issue was not with you any way. I am just a DAL-N guy wanting things to be better in pay, quality of life(which by the way has went way down for me under the current contract), and most important of all that the company be successful. Hopefully things are turning around to the upside.
Good luck to us all.

Heyas,
Just to summarize for the late comers:
1) The JAL deal may or may not be official.
2) If it DOES become official, then we may or may not see increased flying to/from asia.
3) If the flying does happen, it may or may not be diluted by our Skyteam partners.
4) We may or may not acquire some of JALs birds, which may include an assortment of 777s, 747s and MD-90s.
5) We ARE getting a new 330 sim. Whether this means new/used 330s as part of the deal is maybe/maybe not.
6) There may or may not be an addition 744 sim coming. This may or may not indicate additional airframes.
7) If our JAL bid is successful, our west coast feed via ALK will almost certainly be in jeopardy (Yes Alex, I'll take "Bad Outsourcing Strategy" for $500 please) by purchase by one of our competitors that sounds like aimar or Mousewest.
8) There is currently a SLI dispute going to arbitration.
9) There is still no viable 100 seat plan, other than to buy uber cheap MD-90s.
10) Gutter is a tool.

We tried that at JFK one night after we were re-routed to fly an -ER from LGA to JFK at 12am (7min flight BTW... Upon contacting NYC departure clearance was "Delta xyz heavy, cleared direct to Canarsi(sp?), cleared VOR 13R approach.") Well we finanlly got a mechanic to bring us a jetway after about 45min.
LAX strives to be all the airport JFK is.
